There's studies that show people with a larger post count on forums get listened to more, get more replies in their threads, etc. Not sure how true that is in practice of course, but I do think having a large number of posts shows dedication to a community.

I suppose in a way it gets you heard a little more but I think seniority rules over post count and how social you are with other members. I personally am kind of embarrassed with my post count considering I haven't been a member for that long and I already have a lot of posts. Then again I spend a lot of my time on the games board.

Well, it certainly seemed to be true when I used to go by the name Usagi1992. Even though I gained quite the reputation as a whiner amongst some of the community, at least my starter threads were addressed and taken seriously once I started reaching into the 400+ posts range.

I guess I just want to start over with a clean slate, even if it means I'm just a baby bird to all you Phoenixes out here. ^_^ Take care.

The only reason I have a high post count is because I've been here since 2004 and I have a lot to say.

I have a high post count and I sure don't get lot of attention here nor get more replies. I think it's better than getting treated badly here. Instead of being mean or rude or attacking someone, don't say nothing at all.

Wow, that was some 4 years necroing there xP
I do give some importance to post count. It's the easiest and fastest way to get a feel on how much has someone contributed. Still, that one time I got 100 posts in a day from Tugs of War at the games forum I felt dirty on the inside, as if I was cheating

Content beats number of posts in the long run though. A big post count may impress me right away, but after a while I remember the people who write interesting things and pique my curiosity.
