I do hope the therapist will be able to help you with the self-harming. Have you been able to resist the urges?
I am also depressed and miss the days when I was happy! I listen to Green Hill from Sonic the Hedgehog because it reminds me of when life was simple and I didn't have to worry about getting a job and living up to the way society wants you to be like.
My cold's been a bit better today and yesterday. I've only hurt myself once since I got back from the hospital, when my phone's battery was declining while it was on the charger to the point that it turned itself off. For some reason, my phone shutting off due to low battery sends me into instant meltdown mode.

Why does the phone shutting off send you into a meltdown? Is there something on your phone that helps you cope with problems and there is no other way to access it?

I have no idea. It should just be a minor irritation. Maybe because without my computer, I do so much on my phone. I just find it incredibly frustrating, for some reason.

I depend upon it quite a bit within my everyday life.
How are you, Ms. Dragon?
I'm doing all right today, thanks. I haven't hurt myself since the last time I said here that I did.

I hope you get something that you really would like.
I don't know. I'd thought we were going to try replacing the charging port, which would actually be really cheap, before looking at a new computer, but it's possible I'll be getting one anyway. I'm sure I will be getting some things I really want in any case.

You are doing the right thing by giving your pins to you mother for your protection. Like you mentioned, your self-harm is likely an addiction, and there is hope for you to stop hurting yourself, just like many other people have quit smoking & drinking. I hope your new therapist can help you with your self-harm, and give you some coping suggestions.
I am glad you got a lot of rest a few days ago; it really helps me whenever I have a problem. Is your bad cold getting any better? How are you feeling now?
Do you ever get depressed during the holidays? It is a very difficult time of the year for me as well. Christmas used to be a lot of fun for me when I was a child, but now I do not want any part of it any more. I completely understand how you are also depressed about Christmas.
Just like you, part of the reason why I am also feeling depressed is because I used to be happy. I have a lot of good memories from my past which only remind me of when I was happy, and I just want to be that same way again. All my memories are a stark contrast to today because those happy days are gone, and now I have nothing left.
I guess all we can do is just move on & hope for the best. I am here for you, and we will get thru this together.
300 big hugs.
My cold is getting a bit better, I think. The past few years, I have been getting depressed over the holidays, I think because I can't find the joy they gave me when I was younger. Like I said earlier, I feel like I should be happy, and the fact that I'm not just makes me more depressed. And I'm the same way with memories of being happy.
Thank you very much. I'm here for you too if you need me. Big dragon hugs back to you.
Hi again. I am happy that your cold is getting better. Just keep getting more rest & drinking a lot of fluids, and you will get better; that is what my late mother used to tell me whenever I got sick.
You are welcome. Thank you again for the big dragon hugs, and thank you for offering to be here when I need you. I will do the same thing for you. I am only comfortable writing to you & one other member here on Wrong Planet who is no-longer active on the site.
I just wish I could have more answers for you, and also for myself. Life is so strange, and I hate not knowing how to help.
I just want to feel happy again, and I want the holidays to end. I imagine that you also feel the same way. One thing about me which has never changed is that I have always cried whenever I get reminders of better days from my past, and I still do it.
How has your mood been? Do you still feel the urge to hurt yourself any more? Do you still have negative thoughts or images? Are you still having sleeping problems?
I still have hope that you will find a job & your own place to live. I just wish it would all happen sooner rather than later, but what else can we do but just be patient?
Just be a strong dragon, and I will try my best to do the same thing. A series of 300 big dragon hugs back.

I also just want to feel happy again - I'm really missing those few days I had of being happy and feeling great after the horrible images I was getting finally stopped. Things that remind me of being in the hospital make me sad because that's where I experienced most of that happiness. I don't so much want the holidays to end as I wish I could enjoy them like I used to.
I've been pretty depressed the past few days, especially at night. I haven't actually had any more of the images, I don't think, just remembering them. I've wanted to hurt myself but have been able to resist the urge, for the most part. I've been sleeping a lot the past few days, probably because my cold has been making me tired.
More big dragon hugs. Like you said earlier, we can get through this together.

I know how you feel. I have also been feeling depressed recently, especially at night. I do not suffer from insomnia, but just acute sadness & depression; at night, I just lay in my bed, with a lot of heavy covers & blankets, wishing I was happy again, and think about when I was happy. Other nights, I just stare at my alarm clock & listen to the radio, hoping it will help me sleep. Sometimes, I wish I could go to the hospital because I would be away from home & with people who care about me & want to help me get better.
I just remembered something I have done in the past which may also help you. A few years ago, I felt so bad that I called the suicide hotline, and the telephone operator I spoke to recommended another telephone service called the warm line. The warm line is a telephone support number run by volunteers who listen to callers' problems, or who just need someone to talk to. You can tell them anything, and they will listen & try to help you & give you advice. I looked it up online, and there are different warm lines all over the United States, and they may be one in your area. I have called the San Diego warm line a few times, and the people I talked to were very helpful.
You are getting stronger by resisting the urge to hurt yourself, which makes me happy. Over time, the urges will fade away completely. I still hope your cold gets better; it is no fun having a cold.
Just like you, I wish I could still enjoy the holidays like I did in the past. I used to love Christmas & get really excited about it when I was a kid, but as I got older, it was less fun, but I still enjoyed it as much as possible. When my mother died, I completely lost interest in the holidays & did not want to celebrate them any more at all. Recently, I have been watching old home movies that my Dad made of me, my brothers, and my mother at Christmas during my childhood. They sometimes make me feel a little bit better, but they also depress me because they remind me of my past, when I was happy.
Thanks again for the big dragon hugs. More big dragon hugs back. Once again, I am here for you, and we will get thru this together.

You have to be careful who you listen to when it comes to scriptures because there are lots out there that do not speak the truth, Paul Washer sticks directly to the written scriptures pretty much verbatim.
Anyway, again, stay strong, fight hard, and here's the documentary:
Thank you, I'll watch that documentary when I have time. Right now it's midnight, and I'm traveling to Chicago tomorrow to visit relatives for a combined Christmas/New Year celebration and still have a little packing to do. I grew up Catholic but have been questioning my faith/beliefs lately - it's entirely possible I'll find this very helpful in that regard when I get the chance to watch it.

I was thinking of you and your Biology degree. What if you added something to that? My nephew did an extra year's schooling (in IT) and doubled his income. How does Medical Coding sound to you? You've already got Biology; it seems to me you'd be highly employable with both - what do you think?
Also Medical Coding is something you can do from home - see Guru.com - there are others, too.
My mom has suggested coding to me, and I'm thinking of giving it a try, but I don't really know where to start. I'll have a look at the classes offered at the local community college (actually within walking distance of me) and see if something there seems worth taking for me. I was planning on only adding more schooling if I decided I wanted a particular job that required it, so I'd know exactly what extra schooling I should get.

Thank you, everyone, for all the support and well wishes while I was in the hospital. I sincerely apologize for the late replies - I've had a lot to deal with since coming back home, and the cold I've been fighting has really been draining my energy recently, to the point that there were a few nights this week that I ended up falling asleep in my clothes, I was so tired. It was harder than I expected, going back and reading some of my posts from just before I went to the hospital. I can't remember much of the few days prior, and what I do think I remember, I can't tell if it's real or a dream. I guess that really shows what a number the Abilify was doing on me.

It is so marvellous to see you coming back to yourself.
I know you are not out of the woods yet but it is still wonderful.
Hope is still there.
I have noticed a slight improvement in myself.
It's new therapist day tomorrow -
