Going have to leave this site.
I don't think he was provoked into some of his meltdowns. One was aimed at me despite my trying to help him. However he has seen that he made a mistake and apologised. I think you need to point it out and explain it to him rather then just let it go. If you do just let it go it's not fair on sly because he will continue to not understand.
He can be unintentionally hurtful sometimes and I hope this temporary leave will help him.
Trust me Alliekit he has been effectively provoked into those responses on several occasions. I've seen repeatedly where some of the first responses to one of his posts skirt just shy of a personal attack or outright lambast him by presenting the obvious implication that he is either lazy, misogynistic, prone to exaggeration, or simply too miserable to be worth anything. Sly has been targeted in the past and he knows it. While many of us have trouble dealing with innuendo negativity tends to be one of the few areas where that is not the case and these people have used that to get at sly when he's feeling at his worst.
I've seen him try to brush it off only for the harassment to continue and to date only one particularly vitriolic troll has even faced a ban for it to my knowledge. To sly it's him vs the entire forum and even though that's not true when hen the people going after him aren't being called out and disciplined for their behavior you can see why he would think that. It's true that sly does need help but we have to stop these attacks on him and be supportive towards him or he will never open up.

Honestly I have ignored the OP because he always comes off to me as someone who is too insecured so he takes things out of context and twists what people say and makes everything about him when clearly a post wasn't even about him. I have no time to deal with that so I just ignore it. I want to post here in peace and not have to worry about upsetting someone or offending them because of their own insecurity. I have been done with those people for a while now so I refuse to argue about things I never even said. I wish everyone could do the same. Just ignore them. They have their own problems so it's not you, it's them, don't take it personally.

Really, the problem is while 95% of people respond helpfully in Sly threads in the haven, there are always one or two people who leave harsh biting replies that basically say "shut up and quit your whining". Maybe these people think this "tough love" thing works, but they are just feeding him more negativity and making him more and more defensive and bitter. Please believe me, he didn't start out being mean or lashing out.
If you're going to rage at me for pointing certain things out then it looks like you have just as thin skin as Sly. You feel attacked, he feels attacked. Can't you just empathize and try to be nice?
I do empathise, I am much nicer than what you think but you wouldn't give a chance to show. I have a thin skin, yes. Do I want it? No and I'm working on it even if it's a struggle.
Ever thought I was frustrated as well? I do but I don't post my negativity like that since my case would need to be to get it professionally. I'm not going have you make me look like a monster just for you to look good publically. I even said in the other topic that I will talk privately about this. But nope, you kept it up.
I'm still new to this board, so I can only go off of what I've seen of him and not know much. I've been through hardcore abuse from the public school systems for years emotionally, verbably, phsychically and mentally from 6th grade on and it still hurts still on the fact my personal stuff has been aired to others about having AS and being called out there, knowing a lawsuit could've been done. But nope, I'm a apathetic PoS with no emotions to you huh?
I seriously wish you could be in my shoes struggling to be myself and trying to accept AS. I've been through hell and back post school due to no social support to transition into adult hood. I've been sexually assaulted. With how you see. you'd think I am a apathetic.PoS. I know I am.
Also ever thought that I'm a human as cause I know sly is human. But you probably think I'm not looking at the way you're talking to me. I know my way of wanting to help is not be scathing him it's often how it's worded. If you would've asked. I would be more than happy to explain what I really was trying to say.
I would like this to be done in private messaging to free up this topic. I don't appreciate the fact you devalued me while trying to look good yourself on here. I can be more helpful in here if I was asked what I meant to say. Instead of this going left field with the parties involved the mistakes. I admit that ZERO malice is behind and I did.
Not answering your ToS until you can do this in PM.
P.S That's EnmaLionheart to you and keep it that way.

This is paranoia. There is no feminist conspiracy.
No conspiracy, plus he does ask for the attention by always posting about the same issues and never seeming to make an attempt work on those issues. You don't have to pay attention to notice his threads.
I say this as a Sly-sympathizer.

It's just such a difficult situation. I agree we have to be supportive and help him to understand we mean well. However if other people are being hurt aswell he must be warned. I sympathise with sly, but I also sympathise woth the mods as they have to try and keep that fine balance
I think that those that are intentionally provoking him should be dealt with aswell. Sly did tell me that there were individuals who berated him. I wish he understood that those people are not worth responding to or listening to.
I hope he will be back on soon

Same as well. I truly don't wish or want the worst. I'd like to see him actually get better.
I'm probably one of them. To fix that problem with me from him is ask. Or anyone of the matte in the future. I have AS but my wording is often misconstrued and can sound that way and sound like a NT with no regards of others.

Curious about which part? If you mean sympathizing with him, I just mean that I would like to see him happy and I understand how hard it is to have so much self-loathing. I don't agree with what he says about women, but deep down I don't think he really does, either. He seems angry and confused and I hope he learns to accept himself. I also wanted to be clear that I wasn't trying to just bash him, because I thought the first part of my post might look dismissive.

Yeah the sympathizing part. I want him to be happy as well and I can relate to the self-loathing cause I have that as well in real life thinking I was born the wrong race due to bad expereiences and the assoicated ideas with being a black female. I just wish people would ask me about what I'm trying to say and not all the time think otherwise. I do have good intentions. But often seems like a attack.

Who said anything about a conspiracy? Sly just got on the wrong side of the same collection of bitter and perpetually aggrieved posters who show up every time there's discussion of barring men from the Woman's forum or that elusive sexism in L&D, who make no secret of their willingness to use the mods to enforce their views, and who have a sympathetic ear on the mod team. No need for collusion, those people generate enough noise individually to create the impression that something is more of a problem than it is, and Sly's is the name that comes up the most in those threads.

I think haven is maybe not the best place for us to be debating these views. Perhaps we should accept what's been done and now move on with a more positive attitude instead of fighting amoungst ourselves. This includes sly when he comes back.
We all know that's aspies are highly opinionated and that can cause issues sometimes.
Most of us have experienced prejudice, hatefulness or misunderstanding because of our autism. Having this in common we should try to support each other and understand each others views in stead of turning on each other. After all we expect or hope that NTs try to understand our viewpoints.
No, I had nothing to do with it.
I have taken courses in rehabilitation and corrections during my law school days and 'banning' someone or inflicting excessive punishments (within the scope of corrections, for instance) generally does not 'help' a person - generally, it only makes things worse.
I think it would be humanitarian to keep Sly on a no-ban list.
@sly I think many of my worries or anxiety are much more stringent and difficult to cope with. For instance, in cosmology, we are constantly reminded of the little specks of dust that we are in the grand scheme of things. Like being reminded of the fact that our observable universe is 90 billion light years wide.
