There is little point in raking up the past and I am of a similar opinion. Should he reappear, perhaps it will be in the knowledge that God has forgiven him, like he forgives all those who have trepsassed against him.
What I am saying is, that Fnord is someone of formidable self doubt in all manerisms, and has offerered
himself up to the masses for all his worth. He may be no patron saint, but he's no Donald J Trump either.

The past is the past, so let any ridicule lay there. Let us remember, Fnord is a man of hounour, not greed or contempt, although occasionally some sadism finds its way in everyone. He flirts with the masses to encourage self effacing opinion, that can likely unfold from a concrete slab into fine art, if its meant to be. Everyone can stereotype, but its not a poll decider who stays and who goes.
If sadism were a democracy, I'd proably sue for local damages like that which are likely to uphold the court of law.

I did, a few times.

In all honesty, it was more the responses on here that got me typing that out. Even though I should expect it from people by now, it never ceases to amaze me how people will look up to a bully. No matter how much they discuss how they hate bullies, someone acts like one and because they act that they're better, people believe it. I just can never get past that.

Having said all of that though, honestly, truly, I think he was part of this place. He didn't add hopes and dreams to people here like everyone is making out (which is so saccharine), but he certainly made this place interesting.

you're absolutely right on every point.

@Empathy, just so you know, Fnord did NOT believe in God. Like many of us, he's an atheist. Just saying.

Well...

Fnord had a rabid hatred of organized religion - to the point that he would force folks like me (who are not usually apologists for religion) to actually defend religion against his rather excessive and not quite fair attacks.

Yet at intervals he would make posts saying "just because I attack religion doesnt mean I'm an atheist".
So -yes he was not religious-and yes he had axes to grind about other of what he called "irrational" creeds like astrology, but he claimed he wasnt atheist.

But yes-Robin maybe right that Fnord might not appreciate someone making a sermon in his behalf.

If Fnord is not an atheist then, obviously, I apologize and stand corrected.

@naturalplastic - you were right. He just told me he is not an atheist, he just hates religion.

@auntblabby - is it possible to have a church which doesn't adhere to, or follows no, religion?

AFAIK, there are no churches that have no guiding philosophy, that is their whole raison d'etre, no? it sounds to me that there are churches that have religions/philosophies that are closer to one's own vibration level, than other. it is just a matter of finding one. or more.

Unitarian churches encourage you to "create your own theology".

And here in the nation's capital we have the "Washington Ethical Society" which meets at a lovely church like venue ( they rent out the place to a singles' dance I used to go to). They do church like stuff like have family events in which do things like sing christmas carols with references to Christmas replaced by the word "winter" in the lyrics. So the Washington Ethical society in effect would be a non religion church (from what I gather about them).

From Religious Tolerance.org - Unitarianism Universalism is an unusual religious organization. Unlike most religions in North America, it does not require its adherents to adhere to a specific set of beliefs. Its membership includes individuals who identify themselves as Agnostics, Atheists, Buddhists, Christians, Humanists, Wiccans, or other religious tradition. Many inter-faith couples find it to be a comfortable religious home in which both spouses can gain spiritual nourishment.

Makes sense to Robin.

I hope Fnord changes his mind and comes back, maybe he didn't have much to say anymore, sometimes I don't post for a few days because I have nothing to say, then all of a sudden I make heaps of posts.

I also hope he changes his mind and comes back. I don't know if any negativity here scared him off.

Its easy to misinterpret someone. Fnord knew alot more than he let on,about most things, to most people. You can either be a demon in disdguise or follow a church sermon.
We are speaking in human statistics here, therefore he was none of those.
What I know, is, when there is a mountain to climb, he just kept going up. I sense, we have lost a true pioneer, whether it be in search of the holy grail or allowing ingratitude to spring good mercy to all in need.
Fnord, get your arse back here and know we're on your side, through thick or thin.
Your two to one w.p candidacy is at stake..

Well if anybody else I've ever encountered gets as pedantic as Fnord it's the HAM radio operators (for good reason, they're eminently more capable in emergencies than cellular repeater hardware), I can't say I'm altogether cool with the guy, he took a lot of sadly misinformed jabs at my professional background, but that's all the more reason I'd rather stay in touch actually.

Get back here Fnord, it's mutual, whatever it is.
