I don’t believe in God or hell, but if I’m wrong and there is some loving or just diety out there, he or she wouldn’t be so immoral to dole out such a punishment unless the person was truly evil and caused a lot of harm and devastation (for example, serial killers or child molesters).
I think that approaching this fear from a logical and rational perspective could do a lot to alleviate some of that fear and worry.
