The phrase " board and care home " may have been used, I'm not sure - But, whatever phrase it was, it turned out not to be a licenced one. Get " exercise " there? In two weeks there, I never once tool a walk outside the place during the day, I got no walking outside done, it was a major lack of exercise
As I found out later, they told me there was no public transportation in Patterson, both the woman who day-to-day ran the place and " Daniel " said that there was not PT...but there was. I can only conclude that they are lying to me - or were super incompetent. The said-he-was-banned poster defended this, as he extolled Patterson in general, I know - and he excused my being charged so much for rides - It has occurs to me that wanting to keep me in the dark about the public transport could have had the motivation of keeping me a chicken ripe for the plucking by leaving me with no alternative to having to pay them to get around  . The place was stagnant and confined, too :| .

What I said in a nutshell is the care home I will be living in for life is pretty much exactly like the one you rejected.

...I have been released from the hospital. I will be taken to the shelter, which zi - allegedly - haven't lost my bed in. However, though I am rested up now. I would just be very
Zurning to the same situation :( Being pushed out the door at 8 AM, having to move around all day :( , getting neither enough time off my feet or actual sleep - and endlessly being tempted to spend my money on food/somewhere to sit down :( . The exceeds eating certainly contributedd to the water retention that brought me here :( - And, so would be going back to the same situation of being so harassed and tired in the morning that I'm perhaps too tired to eat breakfast there or go to the considerable trouble of taking my pills in the morning :( . Remember, I AM HANDICAPPED  . Also remember, my pills hot STOLEN from me this last time anyway - as did my crutch - and much of my other belongings, including clothes ' for the FIFTH time that had happened in this shelter in the months back in SF!! !! !! !! ! . At least immediately. perhaps I could go back to Santa zCruz - the things I left in storage at Public Storage are still there - I had thought of making the " commitment " of getting a Public Storage space here and having them sent here - That would be a lot of trouble, and it would be committing myself to here.
Maybe SF is not viable for me, but where can I go instead :( ?

I think Public Storage sounds like a terrific idea.
Which has the better shelter, SF or Santa Cruz?
And which hospital treats you better, SF or Santa Cruz?

It would't be perfect or even good enough, but having those 3 things in the same might help?

...I started to discuss this on the other active line. lost it  - Now I see it's directly bring commented on here...so here instead :) .
That stuff I bought in 2018 when the money I inherited from Bruh came in is in the SC Public Storage. I just apparently got the NYS lawyer who handles the money I inherited. It is may be, oooh, two bookcases-worth off readable plus other stuff (including a zzCrosle " now generation " vinyl record player (which plays other formats, also) - my first in decades :D ! !! !! !! !! !! Not fancy or particularly ecpendive, more like a modern-day version of the sort of record player uou'f get as Eoolworth'd or Hrsntd" in the Seventies - the folks on this " Aging Baby Boomerd With humongous Record Collections And Audio Ewipment " board I'm on who discussing which mastering of a King Crimson or Allmen Brothers album is better and what the inner groove says would be HORRIFFIED. I daresay, if I said I have one...I'm closeted about my economic/social stayud on every?? other board I'm on :( , including my real-name Facebook Me :|. But I digress. Anyway, that stuff (I got some modern-era Los, too...mostly new pressings of 60ds/70s stuff. I guess modern'dat vinyl LPs, as a boutique item, purport to be " better " in predsing/mastering. than 70s/80d LPs were...and sure cost more. even against inflation??, lots more than a modern mass-store CD does, I believe. But anyway, the stuff in storage in SV is really not that much in mass - when I made the attempted move to Patterson (at which time I closed the SC storage and took it up there with me - When I reversed that, I brought it back to SC and. rented a new space) I went up there in a relatively compact, I'd say, four-door car. Three of four seats were occupies but the driver. me, and the driver"dmd things. Everything I brought up fit in the rest of the car. I. added little to it post-Patterson, especially in mass, zI things. Among that were some clothes - little weight, more mass.
They're still in SC. As of now, I have at least got the NYD lawyer who habdleds the money I received after Bruh's death  to send a check drawn from my finds yo Zac for this month's rent there, apparently. Before. I never could - and sometimes it was late, sometimes
with an extra charge for being late...dometimed with a surcharge for paying by credit card/phone :( . One time I was days away - Or maybe the first day of iit, and the PS person gave me a break when I brought it the payment in that day '- from a lien being placed on the stuff in storage, and. I was in massive pain some from my bad back  and carrying a big backpack with my pain-lessening edibles gone, the lawyer cut me off completely got st least a couple weeks?? just after or so I had come back from Patterson, having used my money up in the getting back.

...Has your family''s home never had any kind of music/audio-listening device? Not even a radio?
The player and the LPs are all still unopened. with the other SC stored stigf.
I have been up all night. mostly posting here in the dark in the shelter. I did get my bed back - it is a 90-day bed - do have it for 90 dsyd. but. when it runs out, I would be HL again. and I don"t think you can, generally anyway. get another 90 after your 90 runs out.

I meant within my own personal living space I only listen to music on youtube.

I just learned the other day that Santa Cruz is where The Lost Boys movie was filmed and takes place although they call it Santa Carla. The message on the billboard as they are arriving that says "murder capital of the world" is actually what Santa Cruz was called because of a string of serial killings that took place in the 70s. Watch out for those damn vampires.

...To the above poster: Fine, clarifying that.
It is now 5:4/ AM. O have not been asleep all night (Light'out is 1£PM, lights-on I'd 6 AM, get out by 8 AM, earliest reopening is 4:30 PM). Perhaps - PERHAPS 8O? - I will regret this later, butt I did get some posting (I may have had some light sleep at the beginning of the night period, now that I think of it) done. In fact. I often spend a lot of time in bed " bring good/sensible " and trying to get to sleep AND I CAN'T! :( IN all placed :( . I brood and ruminste, and run through things in my I r ad.
Someone with a , normal " room situation could put the TV/Internet/Whatever on. or go get some reading mstter, but O haven"t normally had that for many, many. yesr s  . It"s past 5:45 AM now. After I head dinner heat. Wanting to go out? I treated myself to Safeway deli counter food, really too much ' zYhe Mexico's tell me I should greatly cut down salt and liquid consumption. I had to munch it all down out there before I came back, we're not allowed to bring in outside good.
It certainly was salty, and perhaps that ' and walking again carrying a bag ' had my spine sching  . I did take just one pot munchie, mostly CBDs. Once I got back and lay down, I think the combination of the pot, the lying down most of all, on an Atmy-style bunk ' and having gotten things done smoothed ove. my back :( .
Before so left for the hospital last Friday. I had. in th replacing the latest large amount of stuff to be stolen from me here (probably by the staff), bought basic clothes again and an Army-style duffle bag. taking everything with me when I went to the hospital. It's really too heavy for me to regularly csrry, but I"'ll - in theory ' try to keep what O have to what fills it. with a May be plan of going back to Santa Cruz in a eeeweek-ish. ridiculous though that may be. The stored stuff is in the SV therr...anf perhaps ' perhaps - Social Services there might be more helpful on replacing my old papereork, etc., anyway. And I guess I could return to getting mail free at the HL center there ' though I'd have to lose the ISPS box I paid six months rent for here! Maybe I voulf, prorated, get some back :| ?
It's 6:08, the light ate on (& in my eye :( ), posting in bunk I'm rather staring my arms holding them up...Maybe I won't correct the midpostd that will get up, I will presume you will see what I mean, if not, tell me - I gotta put away the dugglr in my lovker, prepare some things to take out, have separate bags in the locker. recharge this phone...maube breskfast :| . Pills tonight...?

...If the 9:44 poster can go downtown from the place he is moving to, he is ahead of what the Patterson place offered. There, I spent two weeks there NEVER, I believe. Walking off the small grounds (a typical - 1960s/70s? - suburban House even once. No trip, no exercise :( . The people there told me there was no public transportation in Patterson.. This was not true, there was PT there. Perhaps they wanted me t
helpless, and forced to pay the likes of $25 for a 0.\ each way round trip to Walmart :x !

60's-70's, the house I live in now was built in 1917. The place I will be moving into probably offers no transportation and no exercise. The only responsibility of the staff of the care home I will be moving into, will be to look after me while I am inside the house. It will be up to me to leave the house to go for walks around the neighborhood. It will be up to me to exercise*. It will be up to me to look up what kind of transportation is available.

*Part of the staff's job in looking after me will be to remind me of things I'm supposed to do like exercise, but it will be up to me to do it. These are the types of exercises that can be done at home for those with limited mobility: https://www.helpguide.org/articles/heal ... itness.htm

I'd like to see someone find a professional personal care giver who will drive me somewhere, wait for me or hang out with me while I get stuff and then drive me back for much less than $25. That's why I am going to find out what other kind of transportation is available ahead of time.

I don't remember the particulars, but I don't understand why someone would ask about public transportation, if leaving the premises was forbidden. Or why the staff would say there was no public transportation, instead of telling the resident leaving the premises was forbidden. Or why redrobin62 would have looked up available transportation, if leaving the premises had been forbidden.

In earlier threads about Patterson AP said that they were free to leave the premises and go for walks. It sounded like it was a suburban environment, so not as interesting as what he was used to and nowhere to sit and rest.

He would have had to walk to the "main drag" in order to get public transportation. I believe he was a good distance from that "main drag."

I'm wondering if he would have qualified for "paratransit."

I believe most residential care homes are in suburban neighborhoods, so that option might as well be ruled out if one can not stand living in the suburbs.

Not that it matters anymore but redrobin62 found a lot of transportation options for that area.

Re: Public Transportation, Patterson, CA. Moot point now, however:

1. Patterson, CA is served by Stanislaus Regional Transit (StaRT).

2. The have eight fixed route services - 10, 15, 40, 45E, 45W, 60, 61 and C. The four routes which run regularly through Patterson are 40, 45E, 45W and the Commuter line.

3. Specifically, Route 40 is the Patterson-Modesto line. It operates Monday through Friday between 5:15 a.m. and 9:12 p.m.. The bus operates nine trips between Modesto and Patterson. On Saturday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:45 p.m., five round trips are offered to Patterson. A 5th trip offers a return from Patterson at 7:00 p.m. to Modesto.

4. Fixed-route rides cost $1.80. HOWEVER, if you're a senior or DISABLED, it's 90 cents/25 cents for a transfer.

5. They also maintain a Dial-a-Ride service. It costs $1.50 for seniors and DISABLED.

6. Generally speaking, buses run from around 5am to 12am Mon to Friday, Saturdays 6am to 9pm. Nothing on Sunday.

https://www.srt.org/

Customer service - 800-262-1516 - Mon-Fri 6:30 am to 9pm, Sat 7am to 9pm, Sun 8am to 6pm.

Re: Patterson Shuttle Service and Dial A Ride. To wit:

Dial-A-Rides are a transit service that provides curb-to-curb service within communities and cities. Passengers need to call ahead to book or schedule a ride. Service is available Monday – Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. out of service) and Saturday between 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. out of service).

A Shuttle is a transit service that provides curb-to-curb transportation between two or more communities and cities.

For curb-to-curb service, one Personal Care Attendant (PCA) may ride free when accompanying a paying passenger with a disability who needs assistance. They must board and de-board at the same stop as the paying passenger. Out of Area Service requires an additional fare of $1.50 to the regular fare.

1 (800) 262-1516

Re: StaRT ADA Paratransit - operates as a complement to fixed-route service and is available to individuals with disabilities which prevent them from using fixed-route buses.

The service is provided within a 3/4 mile radius of a StaRT Fixed Route. You can call Storer Transit Systems (StaRT) at 1 (800) 262-1516 to see if StaRT ADA Paratransit serves your area.

StaRT ADA Paratransit Service is a door-to-door, origin-to-destination, advanced request, shared-ride transit service operating with Stanislaus County. Several riders may ride in the same vehicle and travel in the same general direction. Travel time will be similar to a bus trip, rather than a car or taxi. The service may be used for any purpose.
