They will learn, we all will learn much in the next few months. We haven't yet grasped the magnitude of this pandemic and how it will change the way we live.Arrogance will be replaced with humility and regret, nature is fighting back and teaching us a painful lesson.
I don't think we'll learn anything in the long term. As soon as this crisis is over we will be racing to get back to exactly the same place we were in before it began. Humility will never replace human arrogance. We will never learn the lessons nature tries to teach us.
We'll keep repeating that over and over until we reach the catastrophic crisis that will result in the total collapse of human civilisation. Or maybe
this crisis will turn out to be the catastrophic one.
(By "we" I mean the human race in general rather than any specific individuals)
There won't be a total collapse of humanity but there
may be a collapse of current civilization centers.
Some societes will choose more effective ways of dealing with such crises than other societes. If the central societes don't learn from them, there will be a considerable power balance shift.
That's how evolution works on the level of societes. Evolution does not promote the strongest. It promotes the best adapted. Humans have capacity to cooperate and adapt.
