Dragonsanddemons I hope the PET scan comes with more conclusive data. I know you hate having to play the waiting game but remember, if this all works out and you feel better you won't have to play the waiting game and do whatever you want, whenever you want!

Keep up the positive attitude and everything will work out just fine. I believe in you and I know you can get through all of this just like you got through all the other struggles in your life! :)

(((((Hugs)))))) to you dragons!

Got the results of the PET scan. The bad news - stuff did light up that shouldn’t have (although I don’t think it will be one hundred percent certain whether it’s cancer or not until they get the results of the biopsy - for example, my mom knows someone who had a PET scan and had hemorrhoids that lit up, and then had to have a colonoscopy to confirm that that wasn’t cancer that had spread). The good news - they’ll be able to get a good biopsy from the stuff in my neck, which is much less invasive than trying to get a sample from the stuff in my mediastinum. Waiting to hear from the ENT about setting an appointment for the biopsy.

{{{{D & D}}}}

Good luck. And I hope you get very conclusive results soon so treatment can commence.

Today’s appointment was a bunch of poking, prodding, pinching, massaging, and other finger-related words to try to find the best spot to take a biopsy from. Hopefully an appointment for the biopsy sometime next week. He also gave me more information on what the surgery will be like. I’ll have about a two-inch incision between my neck and shoulder, with the dissolving kind of stitches so I don’t need to come back to get them out. They may need to put a straw-like thing in my neck, though, to eliminate excess fluid, and that I would need to come have removed at the appropriate time. A kind of anesthesia they say won’t completely knock me out (although whatever they used and told me the exact same thing about (may even actually be the same thing, I don’t know) for the needle biopsy sure did :lol: ), and the procedure will take about an hour but with added time for prep and recovery it will be a whole half-day (however long that means - I’m pretty sure they don’t actually mean twelve hours). And that’s what I’ve got for now. Except more whining and complaining about symptoms, of course :wink:

I have to get a COVID test before getting the biopsy, so the test will be Monday and the surgery will be Thursday.

I didn’t for any of my other stuff (which is surprising), this will be the first time I will have had one. From what I understand it’s kind of like a test for strep throat, except they stick the thing up your nose instead of into your throat. I guess I’d better remember to sit on my hands - my reaction to a strep test is to try to pull the swab out, and my hands go up just as reflexively as other people gag from the swab :lol:

The covid test was a simple nasal swab, nothing intrusive or tricky, just a gentle rolling of the swab stick in the nostril, adhering to the hygiene rules ie washing hands before handling the swabstick, breaking off the end of the swab stick that your fingers held, attaching sticker with your details onto the swabstick vial, then placing swab in plastic bag and sealing it.

All the best with the covid test and with Thursday’s biopsy, D&D. Thanks for keeping us updated. Will be thinking of you. Glad the stitches will be dissolvable ones.xx
