Tell me this doesn't describe us...
Describe who? I cannot even watch or listen to Eminem. The use of profanity like that in "music" is way over my head. I am very old school. The people I listen to are able to use words in a much more skillful and artful manner to convey the meaning of songs.
I have no idea what the vulgar and raunchiness of todays "music" is trying to say.
Actually, I was referring to the chorus, which is Rhianna.
Besides, it's not really a vulgar song, he's talking about coming to terms with all the changes he's been through & whatnot.
"I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed
Get along with the voices inside of my head
You're trying to save me, stop holding your breath
And you think I'm crazy, yeah, you think I'm crazy
Well, that's nothing
Well, that's nothing"

here, read 'em and you'll see this isn't a song about sex or drugs or anything like that. It actually a fairly serious rant about life with a bunch of shout-outs to some obscure, but trailblazing early artists.
I'm not usually a fan, but the chorus really speaks to me, like how I have to get along with the parts of me that cause problems, make friends with the monster inside & all that.
To dismiss it out of hand because you're predisposed against an artist seems kinda silly to me, but hey, your loss.
