I feel like a failure.
But surely it'll help, right? It'll burn the calories and then fat too right? If I eat better and exercise, surely I can become beautiful?
It does help but not on it's own.
Exercise increases your hunger. It's a fact. So unless you can control how much you eat it won't make any difference.
Also you may want to consider having a tablespoon of psyllium husks in water with any low fibre meal you have. If you can't keep things moving you're metabolism isn't going to work.
psyllium husks? Does it dissolve in the water? I have actually no idea what that is...I'm good with getting fiber and stuff usually. I figure if I'm going to keep screwing up my diet, I may as well make up for it with exercise.
There's high fibre and HIGH fibre.
I consider any meal that isn't all bran, fruit, vegetables or legumes low fibre.
It doesn't disolve in water, but it's taken in water. It's a gross texture. But it keeps your bowel clean.
The problem with mending a bad diet with exercise is that you may feel like it's worked, and you'll feel more comfortable eating bad food when in reality you're still gaining weight because you aren't burning off anywhere near as much as you think you ought to be.
You have to remember how much energy is in food. A half hour hill walk will burn off a couple of deep fried chips and nothing more.
*sigh* Bulimia and anorexia sounds much easier. >.<
Don't underestimate the seriousness of these. I don't like seeing you unhappy, but I would rather see you a bit unhappy and a bit overweight than have a full blown eating disorder. You may lose weight, but when your body doesn't get nutrients, your other beauty goes. Your hair falls out. Your skin looks rougher. your teeth erode. Is that really a trade for a bit of weight? I have been in a place where I have done the whole vomiting thing. It's not pretty. It's not a trade. Don't do it. After I vomited I felt like a disgusting pig for eating that food in the first place. Please please don't do it.
I really wished you were my room mate I think I could really help.

I know. It really isn't. Which is why (I hate to say this buuuut) I think I'll only be successful in my weight loss when I either move out or my grandmother dies. She brings in 80% of the unhealthy food in the house and demands that we make more food that isn't as healthy so she'll like it. Her ass is huuuuge. I don't wanna end up as big as her, she's on a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. >.<
At 6ft tall my lowest weight was 142 pounds. I did weight watchers but everyone thought I was terrible anorexic.
B
142 seems pretty good for being 6 feet tall.
well my ideal weight as a 5'9-10" sort of person is 145.. according to my doctor.. So he's a bit underweight for a 6 foot tall person.. he should be about where I am now, about 152-155. But it can be just as hard for some people to put on weight as it is for others to lose it.
I wonder, did your parents and grandparents also found it hard to lose weight when they wanted to, Erisad? My Father and his parents have naturally slim bodies and upper limits on the amount of "fat" they seem to be able to put on, and I seem to have inherited that trait.
Also I spoke to someone about this issue but in regard to ab-building. If you wish to lose weight from your core body-mass you may need to "dehydrate" your core, but research this as I cannot explain further. Generally, diet is the most important step to changing weight. higher protein makes you feel fuller for longer, and limiting fat is good but not entirely eliminate it otherwise you may have cravings. limit carbohydrates because these can be combined with fatty acids and stored as fat. protein is not stored and provides less energy than fat or carbs. exercise raises metabolism and the natural compensation is to eat more, hence caution if exercising at the same time as dieting.
Finally, Diet means "good eating" not "less eating". So look at what control you have over your "good eating", especially if you eat with others and they have rituals such as always having (or offering) a dessert after dinner.
