That's almost all so-called Christians, but if there's a denomination that worships wealth (another anti Christian thing.. false idols and all that) then I guess they take it to extreme lengths.

Religion & Spirituality are not inherently evil things.. organized religion, OTOH, is no bueno.

I don't see religion and spirituality as necessarily evil, but they are certainly not what I believe in.

Do you believe in science?

What I believe in is best described as materialistic atheism.

Ew. Now I'm picturing you as one of the stereotypical gays interested in fashion & aesthetics. No personal offence intnded towards you, and even though I can't pretend not to like looking at those pretty boys.. it's that mentality that just says "Yuck," to me.

We always get crazy busy around the holidays, which means, in addition to consuming cakes, pies, and large meals at home, people are adding to the load by eating out. Also, Americans use eating as a social comma:

"It's my birthday, let's stuff our face!"

"I got promoted, let's stuff our face!"

"It's the weekend, let's stuff our face!"

People in the West would do well to find other things to do with their time besides eating.

I know people from Ireland and the UK who are shocked at the sheer amount of food served as a single meal in American restaurants.

I was stationed in Germany for two years.

After coming back to the States, it was a bit shocking to behold just how huge American portions are.

What that means is I dont believe in anything spiritual whatsoever. I believe in materialism. That is, we are our molecules and nothing else. There is no such thing as spirit. Not materialistic as in Madonna lol.

I saw Colin Baker, who played the sixth incarnation of Doctor Who, at a comic con once. He is a big eater by UK standards, but admitted that he is always defeated by the portions served in US resturaunts.

One thing XFG--I thought people with outstanding diagnoses of Autism, including Aspergers, were barred from US military service.

American gluttony knows no borders.. according to all of my family members who have taken cruise vacations, they can always tell which guests are Americans by the massive heaping platefuls of food in front of them paired with the largest cups of pop available for breakfast even. It's like "eating contest," has become the USA's national sport or something.

It's not that I've never overeaten or never do, I'm just conscious of how unhealthy And wasteful it is. It's a bit ironic that America seems to bill itself as a "Christian nation," whenever it suits them, but doesn't seem to acknowledge gluttony as a sin for how harmful it is to their own health as well as the environment's for food production etc etc not to mention allowing poor people to starve at their big bellies' expense.

I can often tell who the Europeans are when on vacation at the buffet in the morning. They pile their trays with fruit. Americans like the pancakes, eggs and bacon.

I heard on the news the other day that UK restaurants want to ban a refill of sugary drinks. That is just BS. A person can walk into a bar and have pint after pint of alcoholic drinks, and that can ruin relationships and everything, but apparently the stupid government have decided that obesity is far worse than alcoholism. Obesity isn't just about sugar. It's lack of exercise, everybody having at least 1 car they just drive around everywhere, and spending too much time indoors. And if it's to help kids be healthier, then that's BS too, because these days kids hardly ever play outside, they are always indoors playing on their computers or some other form of technology entertainment.

Rant over. :x

I totally agree with your argument that, in addition to banning refills on sugary drinks, they should require people who drink a sugary drink to go outside and exercise afterwards. But let's take it one stop at a time, okay? No need to get carried away with making so many changes at once. :P

I would actually be inclined to eat out more if the serving sizes were smaller. I hate the thought of so much food going to waste. Even standard portion sizes based on a 2,000 kcal diet are too big for me.

They are; however, I joined in 2005 before the ban went into effect, and I wasn't diagnosed at the time.

I was actually diagnosed by the Air Force's mental health service in 2010.

Having perceived the world under the influence of more than one psychedelic drug, I cannot deny the existence of a spiritual/metaphysical realm. Seeing is believing. It's always there - we just can't see it.. unless we have a little extra sensory pharmacologically enhanced vision going on. There is more to energy than solid state matter.

Someone said a phrase yesterday that's appropriate to repeat here: "We are not physical beings having a spiritual experience.. we are spiritual beings having a physical experience." (and when our bodies die, our spirits live on into perpetuity, possibly being reincarnated into something or someone else in the future.)

How did this affect you? I know someone who got a clinical depression diagnosis post Army, and she didn't want to get help while serving because she had Top Secret clearance and would certainly have lost it with said diagnosis.

If you've never done psychedelics then you have no frame of reference to judge from. You don't see things that aren't there, you see more of what is there.. and once you see it, you just know. 8)
