Oh yeah, not only do I have to sell my car to pay a f*****g tax bill, I finally got in it shape to sell and its suddenly started making a really weird noise that's going to put anyone off buying it.

I know exactly what you mean, we're the same (see my comments above). My work has almost tailed away too. I daren't look at my bank account, I just daren't. I asked my husband if his relatives can give us a loan or something. I dunno.

Sending you hopeful vibes.

Oh you got that bill too did you? We just got a bill because apparently tax credit "Overpaid us" They haven't paid us anything for years, but apparently we "owe them" and are threatening us with debt collection.

Feck off bloody HMRC. :x

I had to pay my former employer $500 by cheque to be allowed to retire in January. Apparently they didn't deduct enough for my pension deductions back in like, the other millennium, but they just discovered it a month ago and gave me ten days to pay up or I wouldn't be allowed to retire.

And my car keys with all the house keys on them have been missing for like two weeks. I'm using a spare single car key and I have no keys to get into the house but the kids keep locking me out any time I go anywhere so I have to stand in the cold ringing the flipping doorbell while they're listening to music and can't hear me.

Here's the single car key I get to carry around and use:

(Mind the hair) ^

Because hey, my son had a meltdown about five years ago and threw it, and the beeper thing with the casing broke off so it's been held together with tape and no beeper ever since. We call it "the bad key" and only use it for emergencies like when the kids lose my real keys and all the house keys as described above.

Getting a new, spare real key is apparently $700 so we never bothered.

Well I'm just glad it's not a competition to see who's got it worse. I f*****g hate that sort of thing me.

We used to have this woman at work and I swear to god if I told her that I've got a black cat she would always have an even blacker cat.

Thanks, and I'll send some back. My tax bill isn't an overpayment thing, it's where I expected to earn a similar amount this year as I have been for the last couple and it just hasn't happened. Hence I need to sell my car :(

I went into the garden and raked leaves for an hour, on the recommendation of another online friend. It did help, I'm knackered now though.

Fecking AI stealing my work. I used to be able to hold my head up high and pay my way but now I'm just the dependent wife again, asking my husband for money every month. Humiliating and demeaning, and he doesn't have much anyway. How I fecked up my life by not being sensible with money when I was young. Stupid cow.

Thanks blitzkrieg for being one friend.

No worries, KitLily.

*sending hugs*

I f*****g hate it when virgin media email me asking for feedback.

Isn't it enough f*****g feedback that I pay my bill every month and I'm still with them.

F*ck off bombarding me with this sh*t.

I don't even get where HMRC has overpaid us. They hardly paid us anything and stopped paying us about 5 years ago. How on earth do we owe them anything? It's a scam. We tried to phone but the lines were engaged permanently of course.

I'm sorry about your car, what will you do for transport? Is public transport an option?

Is it working tax credits you've been overpaid? They did that to me too a while back but they never asked me to repay it, they just stopped giving me any more until the overpayment was paid off.

I'd look into it though if I were you. I've had some phishing scams in the last few months purporting to be from HMRC. Are you sure it's for real?

My partner has a car but she hasn't been able to drive for months now because she's dizzy all the time. So I'll use that, I'm driving her everywhere anyway. It's a pretty crappy car but beggars can't be choosers. No public transport out here!

I still can't get over the price of cheese me. In the last 12 months my cheese bill has doubled and Rishi Sunak has the f*****g audacity to celebrate inflation falling to 4.6%. it's still f*****g rising c**t and it's way more expensive than it ought to be.

Gone are the days when a bit of Cheddar on a crust of bread was a thing you had when you was struggling to afford a proper meal. It's more of a f*****g luxury these day.
