Clothes , cough , crippled-ness .
And who here at WP knows enough , especially about my personal/: business : details ,/ to say this ?
There is only about one now-active WPer who I have had much off-board contact with , we had quite a lot in 2013/4 but we haven,t had too much recently and myself and that person and I have never met face to face - how does Tobes think this ?
The WPer who you're talking about appears to be the same person I'm talking about. I don't know whether they want their username mentioned so I won't say it.
What they told me is that you're entitled to quite a bit more of your SSDI than you're receiving. They said you were deemed incompetent to handle your funds and a Payee was ordered to handle them for you. They said the payee is taking a % of your SSDI, to provide this service and that it wasn't voluntary on your part.
I don't know the circumstances, just going by what I was told. Feel free to set me straight if I have the wrong information.
Personally, I think you need to ditch this payee (if possible) and find a new person to handle your life. They don't appear to be doing the right thing by you. The right social worker/case manager can make so much difference to your life by giving you options that you may not have at present.
ASS-P, I apologize if it sounded like I was prematurely writing off the Nashville idea. In my own mind, I had trouble connecting the dots between you not being able to take a city bus across town for your college orientation, to now suddenly being expected to take Greyhound cross-country?
I realize now that this thread is only half the story, with other communication going on behind the scenes. I really do wish you the best, and if Nashville works out I will be happy for you!

Tobes, I am astounded by the effort you are putting in to help a stranger. It is heartwarming to see such kindness.
I was a representative payee for my mother when she was in the nursing home. I wasn't permitted to take any money to administer her funds for her - I wrote a monthly check to the nursing home and 1 check for her personal funds account at the nursing home and that was it. I think whoever this person is has incorrect information. If there is a professional social worker or company doing the administration of funds, perhaps they take a tiny bit of money for the duties (there is an accounting of funds that needs to be done to the SSA yearly) but it cannot be a considerable amount of money.
There's probably more to this than meets the eye.
I was under the impression that, for some reason, Social Security cuts ASS-P a weekly check in a "direct deposit" manner, and that ASS-P uses his debit card to pay for things and withdraw funds.
Obviously, it would be illegal, say to take $500 a month from a person when that person doesn't have a place to stay--is homeless. It seems like most people get about $1,000 a month from SSDI. If he's getting "less than half," then it seems to me that, barring a housing situation for ASS-P, that this is being done illegally.
We don't know the whole story, though.
I wish ASS-P would talk about this to his friends through PM. How much he gets from SSDI, and how the money is allocated to him. Of course, he might not to reveal such things in a public forum.
Maybe, then, people "in the know" could evaluate the situation better.
...To all:
Yes , I receive my SSDI put on an account , maintained I guess by the payee (The same folks whose slow-buttedness in getting me a new card when the old one was eaten by an ATM which caused me so/ much angst recently .) , I think the total is the : max : , I think a bit over $1000 a month - But , I get served it by the week , whiich I think I have said many many times here before . yes , I presume they take a % . I do tend to doubt it,s : more than half : . I think my total is upwards of $900 , I think .
Tobes put up a bunch of SF things that I might not bbe eligible for , perhaps .The : Homeless Connect : is a big : fair : whiich happenes every three-six months?? , the : Homeward Bound : is - I don,t have any freind mlet alone relative , who is saying : He,ll move in with me : , which is what they demand .
DC is saying that - more or less?? - But , I am uncretain whether he would feel : up to : giving a lot of official statements to SF breaucrats and so forth .

...Okay , to spell it ouiit:
I had lots of trouible getting compuiter time over this long weekend , and I also had manifestation of my d/e problem show uip - To the extent that the pants I am wearing now were reaLLY ONLY MENT TO BE BED PANTS , PAJAMAS , I THINK MY ONLY OTHER PANTS ARE THE LAST ONES TO BE SEMI-RUIINED
by my d/e problem , thouigh they might be rescuiable given the right wash - If I am really able to set that up .
(I,m so for the miscapitalized line above , I am not going to correct it .)
In other words , I am wearing pajama bottoms right now , I have no other wearable pants
.
I meant to go to a Goodwill (*that asn,t one that was nasty to me
) a buis ride away , however , it was very cold and raining so I went into that deli again for their Wi-Fi and to get something ouit .
I hope the rain might end suifficiently enouigh to allow me to go for the pants - I couild feel the possible poop buiilding uip in me , on this cold seat in the deli
. I have been wearing disposables most of the time for a while now _ I was able to get thwm for free from the hOT Team .
I do have to sa that , uinfortuinately ,, the quiestion of how I wouild deal with my d/e problem - and my couighing - duiiiring 3 days in a buiuis and in cruiddy bus stations for layover is a quiestion for how I might deal with a bus trip ![]()

As you know, there's a laundry just a short walk up the road from your shelter. Hopefully the rain subsides and you can make it there. Hopefully it's cheap as well, so you can go there frequently.
Do you mean disposable underwear? If so, has it improved anything yet?
Yeah, well Nashville is only one option. There are plenty of other places much closer. In getting to those places, you can always take it in steps - e.g. a short bus/train ride every week or two and then stay in a shelter there until you're ready to go further on to the destination. The main thing is to keep making the move out of SF, even if it's just a short move every week or two.
...It,s nearly 3:15 and I,m still in that deli and I think?? iit,s still raining and cold like f**k .
f**k ! So Im still stuck here , just a block up from the shelter -- Though itt
,s dry inside it,s also quite cold , my butt is on a metall bench directly against the window and I bought this rather overly salty deeli food to stay here and use their Wi-Fi - I,m in PJ pants , remember , I,ve not gotten out at all to try and get any other clothes and it,s looking like I won,t , I don,t want to get rained on - I have no raincooat of any kind , you,ll recall I had a poncho but that got stolen with other stuff
- I did get some answering and messages done here , that is true - But how can I do the possible relocation If I don,t get much materially done because I can.t get out ? And how can I relocate if my digestion
, the d/e , gets in the way ? Again , just some pajama pants which I am wearing - to wear , as of now .
To answer someone on another line I didn,t say that there was lead ,//or mercury , of anything in these old buildings used for shelters because the authorities were trying to kill us and that they said so - I din,t say that .
However I will say that , especially in San Francisco, a city with a lot of old buildings that tends to not knock down old builldings as regulaly as other cities - That the old buildings that shelters , etc. tend to be in may have old lead , mercury , whatever , which used to be used a lot more in buildings before , as of to-day , they were thought of as being dangerous...These old/buidings may have quite a bit of lead or mercury or CO2 (Carbon monoxide ?) , whatever , still hanging around inside them .

...Most weeks it.s in the $140-$160 neigborhood (More the first week of the moonth) . It is about 4:30 , it,s stopped raining buut the sun,s gone , it,s cold , it,s late - I coudn;t get to that Goodwill now .
Really , what I should do is go back to the shelter and have a poop ,, it,s built up inside of me , the coldness I,ve been sitting on - Perhaps I can bbe said to have :: gotten some things done : re what I said on WP - should have , on a certainlevel , gone to St. ANTHONY,S FOR FREE , : BETTER : , FOOD BUT IT WAS 12:15?? - at least marginal for getting up there in time foor a comfortable time when they close ;,round 1:30 (It really should be noted how hobbled ! - crippled
I am .) , Even getting to and fro the Metreon/area , 0where that Target/Old Navy are , even if I skip 6:30 dinner at the shelter , is marginal by now ,
Bus rides are pretty expensive and every week ? I think not . I can do free laundry in the shelter but you have to be up at a hard-to-reaCH TIME WHEN THE SIGN-UP SHEET COMES OUT AND FILLS/UP QUICK AND THEN BE THERE THEN ,
I JUST HAVE SO NOTHING TO DO
FOR MUCH of the day , including after (Strict !) 9:30 lights out , I am so/often awake for ages
- I was told by someone here : I deserved sleepless nights : or similar ,
This tablet has nothing on it to work when there,s no Internet on . In the moring and even into the early afternoon I can,t quite bring myself to get out of bed and take the long , long ,
hassle of sh*****g and cleaning myself and putting clothes on - Now , if I do not go out , all must wait til, later too-morrow
. ( miscapitalized some , didn,t take the time/ to/correct .)

St. Anthony's is an 11 minute bus ride away which costs $5 including return ticket. Cheaper than spending $10-20 or more on salty food at a deli or Burger King, especially since you said St. Anthony's food is better.
If you want to walk there, it's a 30 minute walk away, including rest stops. If you just had a reasonable sleep in and left at 12pm, you can make it there by 1pm. A bus is the better option for you, though.
It's evident that you often spend WAY more money than you need to. WAY more. Whether that's clothing or food, it really "eats" into your budget. In my opinion and probably the opinion of one or two other people here, it's about time you stopped using your crippledness as an excuse and start saving money and getting better nutrition. There are buses available. You are extremely resourceful. When you feel energetic, you can get a lot done. Don't feel sorry for yourself.
An an example, if you woke up earlier, you'd have more time to access these things and probably feel more tired later in the evening. Sleeping in past a reasonable sleep-in time will mean you're way too energetic at a later time of day, when there's not much to do.
By the way, if you ever go to St. Anthony's again, they have more services available than just free food. You really should enquire as to how they can improve your life. Tell them your story. Tell them you can't give yourself the utmost care and need to be placed in a care home. They can't help you if they don't know your problems. The more people you reach out to the better your chances of help.
What time does the sign-up sheet come out?
If you miss the free laundry, it's a short walk to a nearby laundry, you probably know which one I mean. The would cost maybe $5? Pretty cheap if they can clean and dry your clothes.
About your tablet, maybe you can Google "free tablet games to download" or something like that, so you can download some free games to play when you're offline. I might be able to link you to a YouTube video explaining how you can do that, if you're interested. Or you can work it out if you take the time or even ask someone at a nice place like St. Anthony's or a computer lab.
