All well said Persephone. AP, use some of your SSDI money for prescription glasses. That’s what it’s for - to take care of your needs. If you cant pay it all at once, save some each month. Did you get any of your windfall money? Are you getting any from the NY lawyer any more? You only need some plain, sturdy glasses, not “fashion “ ones.

The Walgreens in Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz, sells reading glasses.

To tide you over until you could afford Prescription Glasses.

Someone above responded to that with the rqiobalent of , What did you expect. the Guide Michelin? ". The point was, it was not certified as following rules, with an authority over it.

Licensed places are less available and more expensive.
Unlicensed places offer an alternative to low-income individuals.
If you want licensed you are probably going to have to pay at least double and maybe more like triple or quadruple.
You were directed to the place in Patterson because it was within your means.

Will you be in a licensed place, Ezra? I hope your parents can look in on you frequently to make sure these people treat you right. Which may not be something you want, if the goal is to get away from home. Worrying about people I have grown to know on this sight makes me very nervous. I worry a lot about kids, vulnerable individuals (kids, disabled, elderly, dogs, cats, etc). Which makes me miserable.

I am not concerned about a place being licensed. I will know if I am being mistreated and will report it if it happens. No worries there. I am known for being fierce when wronged.

There's more accountability when a place is licensed, though.

I would really insist on going to a licensed facility.

It is also a lot more expensive. If I were unable to communicate or was unaware like someone with dementia then it would be an issue. I will check out reviews and any sort of complaints filed against my place. If it has been in operation a long time and has a clean record, I personally do not see anything to worry about. ASS-P was able to vacate the place he was at. I will vacate too if it turns out bad. But nothing that I recall ASS-P reporting is something that would be a problem for me.

Have you tried putting your glasses on those cords or chains around your neck? You might not lose so many. If you got real prescription glasses maybe you could get bifocals and then not have to take them off and on.

...I'll talk about what I did to-day. Wske-up time is 5 AM? 5:30? It is straining to prepare things and go to the bathroom, bsrrgoot carrying my shoes, to change my underwear there, etc., including the bathroom business - and getting my osntd and shoes is fifficulttiring, requiring me to lean against something :( . Being in the bathroom a long time meant thst I miss ed the breakfast entirely.
We went to the drop-off (and pick-up) spot. It was 7:25 AM or so. I took a bus to Watsonville an hoit/ish away for somewhere to go. And I thought I'd dose off in the bud seat. get a little more sleep. However, the psin/stinging in various points of me really made me not comfortable :( . I hung around the E'Ville bus station, tried to lie down on the sidewalk to get warmth got my bavk, but the guard wouldn't let me. Hung around a little more, back to Santa zCruz. again could not really doze off :( .
I had thought zI'd go to a store and the library in SC but I just felt do tired so went to the drop-off spot, where a lot of homeless hang about. and lay down in the sun to stretch out and get some sun on me, which might deal with the pain, and get some more sleep. I did get sleep, and lots of sun - probably a but too much, but it did calm me dome. Getting up a bit before 3 PM??, it was really too late to do the going to the planned Cruz places.and make use of them and get back by 5 for the official pick-up. I am just so slow-walking:-(. Before I had left for Watsonville I had had some food st a stand in the bus station. In theory, I am trying to reduce to two meals a day.
I did not buy more food, but bough a liter of strawberry Brisk. Fluid, and filling my stomach. I do get nothing-added water from the fountain and place it in bottled and put this sugar-free zVtydtal Light-type feet drink powder in one of the water bottles. the other one pure. I had been trying to get sunlight/heat on torso/back, and did really tried for it there, with the sun-heated wooden benched.
It nearing 5, I walked down to the pick-up spot. I lay down on madam, to stretch out more. I had to wait a while to get on the very small van to go back to the shelter. This turned out to be nice :). - the streched-out position I was in let the psin go away - and the perpetual ache/hurting/in m u stomach and my perpetual out-of-breathness stopped! :D
Unfortunately. this shows by contrast how poorly I generally feel :( . zit was lying relatively flat on my bsck, on this pavement, with hot dun shining on me, to make it go away. It shows how do really need to be in a situation of being able to stay in a room a great deal of the time to make the pain go awaym:cry: m

I’m sure Ezra’s parents would make damn sure that his care home is licensed.

If it was a choice between an unlicensed place or me being homeless, they would probably urge me to go for the former.

If he holds out for a licensed place which he can also afford, I do not think he will find one.

What will happen to ASS-P if his care home isn't licensed? Or what did happen? Is that when they were upset about the bathroom accidents? Because that's not being mean, especially if one can walk.

The one with the bathroom problems wasn’t a “care home,” per se. It was a “single-room occupancy” (SRO) apartment for homeless people. The bathroom was in the hall, not the apartment itself.

When a place is licensed, it’s subject to state and Federal regulations. If unlicensed, there’s less accountability and more potential for abuse.

Think about an accredited college, vs an unaccredited college. A degree from an unaccredited college is unacceptable.
