Ok. Stick with me...this is a long and complex thread.
Asperger's takes its form inside me in a wierd way. I have an overload of creative energy, and it needs to go somewhere. I channel it into a group of imaginary friends and an alter ego, who i write and draw and paint and spend a lot of my energy maintaining. I have this wierd form of trance i go into where I am my alter ego and i talk to my friends. I don't do it in public obviously becuase people would think i was schizophrenic. They are with me everytime i'm alone, i guess its my way of coping with being alone. Its so much fun hanging out with them, they are better than real friends (even though i have a lot of close friends who are real) but every now and then huge problems crop up. My alter ego is as complex as the imaginary friends, and i 'become' him. I love him so much, and he is great support, but when i see someone who looks/acts like him i get sooooo mad and depressed becuase i think he's not good enough. Recently i saw a celebrity on TV who ive never seen before and they look so much like him its rediculous. I'm becoming extremely obsessive about the guy on TV but at the same time he makes me soo angry because I wish my alter ego was as awesome as he is. My alter ego isn't even real but the guy on TV is and it just makes me so unbelievably mad I don't know what to do. I start going into crisis mode and a few years ago I had a breakdown about a similar event to this. It annoys me even more when the person that resembles my alter ego is popular and lots of people like him. I find the guy on TV extremely attractive (My alter ego is male but I am not) but it makes it so much worse when i know other people like the guy, which they do.
can anyone help? I doubt it lol.

I rarely say this, but this sounds like a good thing to talk to a psychologist/psychiatrist about. A good one should be able to listen to details about your alter ego, find the root of the reaction to the celebrity and offer suggestions to help.

Not necessarily. It just sounds like it would take some deep mental searching for someone else to understand it well enough to maybe help. Who better for that?

I see what you mean. I hate going to councilors though...they creep me out and never understand. I nearly got diagnosed with bi polar and i know for sure i don't have that. As soon as i start talking about my fake friends, people think i'm schizophrenic. do you know any online councillors or something? That way i wouldn't have to talk face to face.

Try this. It looks anonymous and free. http://counsellingresource.com/ask-the-psychologist/

If their advice isn't sufficient, maybe try asking if one of them could point you to someone who can correspond over e-mail (you can create a gmail account to stay anonymous) or something.

I have somewhat of a distrust of psychiatrists myself. They can be too quick to prescribe drugs or make a diagnosis. Also they don't keep everything confidential if they they think you are dangerous. You don't sound dangerous, though.

It would be nice if there was a resident psychologist on WP who sees this thread.

Jealousy and exclusive feelings can be very difficult to deal with.

Wow, I've never met anyone to say that outloud before. I used to do the same thing!! It stopped a couple years after I got married. I almost didn't get married because my imaginary world was way more fun! You have to keep in touch with me because there probably aren't many people who even understand what you're saying. I did this for years and my fake friends all had their on lives. I always try to imagine where they are today, even though they aren't real. I even dream about them at nite sometimes. Get back to me on this, I would like to hear more. I have always wondered if anyone else did this but I just figured nobody would say so.

Oh, also I forgot to tell you, I am female and my alter ego was male too! But I had many friends of both sexes.

Not to be critical, but 'Asperger's' is the correct spelling. But as to OP, I don't know. I guess some Aspies might express in this way but what you described isn't a diagnostic feature. I guess if having an alter ego (?) bothers you then you could consult another.

Oh no i love him. And i have all the usual symptoms like being unable to talk to people well, socially awkward, meltdowns, and hating certain things immensly, eg i'm pteridophobic. But the other symptoms dont bother me, i just get on with life. My alter ego though, doesn't think so some of the time.

You're telling me. How do you normally deal with them?

I don't.
I'm usually not the kind of jealous person :)

And when it comes to imaginary friends, I do the best that I can, counting on their kindness to forgive.
