When people who are supposed to help you hurt you
If a stranger on the street got impatient with me or short-tempered or angry with me, I wouldn't mind. But if someone who says they're going to help me or look out for me, or even worse, someone who is put in charge of helping me or looking out for me, does that, it really hurts, and it makes me so sad and angry and scared, and it amkes me feel like I have no one to turn to.
My immediate reaction to that is similar to yours. However, after a little while, my reason overcomes the fact that I have the emotional response of a 6-year-old, and I realise that people are only human, and that they have things going on in their life which could be bothering them, and that I can't expect to be the centre of everyone's universe. Sometimes people are in bad moods. Sometimes people get impatient and abrupt without really meaning any harm. Sometimes I do things that annoy people (even if it's unintentional, the effect is still there). Should I expect people not to react? No. Other people don't exist simply to make me feel good about myself, and that includes people who are meant to help me. Expecting people to be all sweetness and light for the sake of not hurting my pwecious widdle feewings would be totally unreasonable.
