Greetings everyone. My name is Tyler Guidot, but due to my account you may call me TyTy007. I have just become a registered member here on the Wrong Planet Discussion forums and have come looking for some free opinions as to what serious types of effets can certain medications bring you.

I have taken this new medication a couple months ago starting after the first week of June named Geodon (meaning "bring down to Earth" according to my father's studies) and have noticed some very depressing and stressful episodes in the past couple of weeks after the first two months of taking this sample medication. First thing that came to my mind was depression due to not getting a girlfriend, but later until the day I posted this message have noticed some other serious side effects: Such effects include minor memory loss, excessive and uncontrollable sweating, speech problems (I might be the two percent with this problem), restlessness and nervous episodic periods, and loss of appetite which can create vomiting issues. The medication says it is specifically due to those who are suffering from bipolar disorder and schitzophrenia, which I suffer from neither one. The doctor said that this medication was prescribed to me not because he thought it was best for me, but only because he did not know if I could afford better. I used to take Seroquel which was perfect for me except for the weight gain and the occasional excessive sleep.

Life has almost become not worth living and I am not sure how much longer I can put up with my lack of knowledge in the world. I am about to seek a new doctor and exit the use of Geodon, which will hopefully remove permanently most if not all these nasty symptoms, but I am afraid deeply (Someone hold me please.. Seriously) of not retaining my true self anymore and am terrified of never being able to talk much again. You see, before I noticed such side effects I used to be a relative chatterbox (Not too much though) and used to have a great sense of humor, but now I am this depressed hollow shell of my former self and do not know if I will ever return to my former glory.

Someone please read this.. Be out there for me.. I don't want to feel alone.. Talk to me about what you think of Geodon and its catastrophic effects on those who do not draw anguish from bipolar or schitzophrenia. Please hear me out with this.

Hello Tyler and welcome to WP. Let me just start out by telling you you're not alone. Your medication sounds like its not working for you at all and you should talk to your doctor or GP about this, or take it up with your new doctor, and get about changing it asap. I'm no wizz when it comes to medications, but treating depression (sorry if I'm wrong for assuming that you are depressed) with medication designed for bipolar disorders or schizophrenia isn't the best idea. Mood stabilizers have a lot of side affects and as of such are on the er side for treating even what they're designed for.

If you can tell us what the medication was prescribed for it might help. Hang in there.

Thank you Irada, I will certainly try to hang in there, though I am feeling the rope lose twirl by twirl. I have decided that I am going to stay with my father who has been there for me everytime I needed him. I don't know if or when I will ever get out of my condition, but I have stabilized my medication again and plan on not taking the Geodon anymore. I am now taking the 112.5 mgs of Effexor and the 75 Seroquel, which will hopefully get me back on track in a couple weeks. I just feel like everything that I have worked hard for in my life is being undone and suffer extremely from the thoughts of worthless life.

I have talked to my doctor about this and he said that it will take a week or two for the mental blocks to undo themselves, but he has been wrong before, so I cannot help but worry about it. If there was ever a time where he was right about my medication, I would certainly hope it would be now more than ever.
