We have this handyman see...and he does a lot of work around our place. He also steals from us at every opportunity, but he works for board and peanuts and peanuts is all we can afford to pay anyone...he does all kinds of stuff for both of our businesses.
Forget I mentioned the stealing part....no telling how much he has made off with over the years...everyone knows he steals and he just gets away with it because we cant replace him....

What I am mad about is that he uses the saucepans to cook his dreadful slop and then takes the saucepans up to his lair and then they are GONE....Probably too encrusted with dried mash that will take forever to clean...So when I need to use one to make soup there isn't one around....and when I ask him if he has them, he LIES to me and says that he doesn't....He is the ONLY other person who uses the saucepans...so OF COURSE he has them...(yes, at one point there was more than one...)

He knows he is lying to me I know he's lying to me...I know he knows I know he is lying to me....and I HATE IT

He is very hardworking and could be a good person if he were't so vile and bad-smelling(he reeks of cheap tobacco so strongly it makes me gag)... and didn't wander around half-naked all the time like a caveman and if he didn't LIE and steal things to buy crack....

Somehow I manage to be more angry at him right now about the saucepan.

His life might be a little bit rough at times, but he sure has it easy for someone who really belongs in jail.

A hidden video camera and recorder can go a long way towards curbing bad behavior.

We installed locks on our doors and a security system.
It still didn't stop him from dragging our vending machine into the mens room and attempting to smash it open...Flakey was alerted to the sound, and managed to catch him before he destroyed the thing and only succeeded in mangling the lock....

I just want a stinking sauce pan so I can eat some stinking soup....

I think this is well beyond the point that I'd just go DIY handyman, and phase this guy out somehow. I have no patience to put up with theft on a long-term basis.

I second this. He needs to be punished, good! I have zero to minus something respect for people like that.

Easier said than done..
We run two businesses on a shoestring budget. We are dreadfully understaffed(because we can't afford to pay anyone)...Sociopath or not, he is more-or-less the only NT on our crew....(My partner is a sort of PDD-NOS ADDer like me...but higher functioning)..our other gang members are ASish-Bi-Polar Schizotypal and ASish(with full time job..so he can't always be around to help)
He is able to do certain things that nobody else can do, and he can talk to ANYone..and doesn't have the rotten executive functioning problems that i and my partner have.

This guys isn't just our handyman, he does Everything remotely labor intensive...and is also the sound guy at our venue.


Believe me..I would love to phase him out...we just have nobody to replace him with and he knows it...and uses this to justify his stealing.

Right now I just want my stinking saucepan.

I am having Flakey bring one home from the office and then I will keep it hidden and never let him use it.
He will have to bring the other one out of hiding eventually

The best I can come up with is shrill bitchiness...

..but the meaner you are to him..the more prone he is to retaliate....vicious circle...

Well as kicking his sorry ass out is at the moment no option, i would suggest combination of two strategies, first try to get evidence of his criminal endevors, second search a replacement for your unbeloved handyman. If he is really as f****d up as you say maybe not even the threat of an police intervetion can stopp his behavor.

The alternative would be to substract what he steals and destroys from his wage...or simply see it as part of his wage when you are really paying him only peanuts and he is still cheaper than a non stealing handyman just keep him.

Some people prefer money some pots and sausages.

tell him you have gone Kosher and need your own sauce pans in their own place in the kitchen. those he uses are his to use (and lose!) I know it is just like family but you gotta make kitchen boundries!

One way or another, he needs to be sent on his way.

Either call the cops on him right now or I would strongly support the idea of looking for a replacement, you could put out an advert for an assistant XYZ.

If you then get some new person, then you could give the existing one a choice. Leave and stay away from your place or we call the cops and give them a wad of evidence.

We went to the store and when we got back, the saucepan was in the dishrack....no words spoken...too busy to further press the issue, as we had a big show tonight.....bizzness as usual. I hid it in the bedroom and plan on keeping it there.

Well i could be wrong but if you forced to hide kitchen equipment in your sleeping area you should really think about some way to get rid of this guy.

If you care so much about his insolence thiefery for got sake find some one else doing his jobs there are many people on the streets willing to work honest for honest dollars.

..But they might be just as likely to steal...may not be as likely to have his knowhow...We already do deduct what he steals from his wages. In fact, right now we are so broke we can hardly afford to pay him anything...aside from his meals and board and petty cash.
When we do pay him, he manages to immediately "lose" the money....

This is all beside the point. It isn't totally up to me...
And I got my sauce pan back.

Might as well add this to this thread....last night we were out late at a friend's house (drinking) and when we came home, I was in beligerant melty-mode and oooh.....I was shooting my mouth off at Flakey...and doing the thing where I am threatening to leave and trying to lock myself in my room...which Flakey has a key to...(my routine drunken behavior).....and I heard a door open in the other part of the house...so I ran out and told our handyman to stay out of our room...because it looked like he might have been in there...and I am constantly on edge with my hyper-acute hearing....regarding every little noise in the whole stinking building....So we ended up having this big stupid drunk confrontation...and I told him everything I thought of him..and he played himself out to be the victim...the poor endentured servant who works his fingers to the bone for no pay...annnd...um....he might not be working for us anymore....
