I get really pissed off because everyone seems to believe in all the most damaging of myths about everything like suicide and rape and grief and even about toasters and where the lint in your belly button comes from and s**t like that. Their believing in myths damages and even ruins peoples lives and the are sooo stupid like they believe that to avoid getting raped it helps that when you get off of a bus that you look like you know where you're going or else you could get raped or that you can get raped if you wear certain clothing or because you were attractive. They believe that rape is sex or unwanted sex and that rapists are just desperate, uneducated, mentally diseased sickos. And the myths about suicide are dumb like they say that you could not have done anything to stop the person committing suicide. None of this stuff is true, NONE of it. Then why do people, even when proved wrong STILL believe in crap. I mean it's like don't you have a brain? Are you thick? Stupid? ret*d? What the f**k is wrong with you?! !!? Like there was this guy who punched this lad in the face because the lad had been harassing him and his wife and calling them names and then then later he got stabbed by the lab. Well I can assure you that that utter moron who got stabbed has not learned his goddamn lesson and that he would do it afuckingain and that he is justifying his behavior as self defense. That sh*****g moron! I bet that he and others then looked at each other and said that that was the right way to deal with it. Even though the guy nearly died I bet you that they just put it down to the lad being sick and that that is the way to handle people like him to protect you and your family. Well the guy who got stabbed knew to some degree that punching the lad could start serious trouble but he did it anyway and he then he gets treated like a real brave man. When if you think about he is a coward he did not want to think about the consequences of his actions he just wanted to have an excuse to punch a certain type of person that he did not like because society says it's OK. Well society at one time said it was OK to burn witches at the stake, but we have moved on from that haven't we? People say certain types of people are bad because society tells them it is. How the f**k could they know? They look at stats and think that they can usefully apply them to real life when in fact they can't. Just because something sounds useful doesn't mean it is. Like for instance stats say that women are more likely to get raped then men. First off, how do we know that this is true. Just because some expert said so. Well at one time experts said the world was flat, later on when the first cars were invented they said that the human body could not stand the ridicules speed of 20 miles per hour. They could not have possibly tested this out as it would have been proven wrong, so they lied. Just because experts do some tests doesn't mean anything. You would think that the tests that they carried out were conclusive but when you look at how they did the test it falls waaay sort of how wide and accurate you expected it to be. Like they use police records which sounds good but which doesn't mean anything, especially in this day and age when courts can refuse to look at all the evidence. And the law itself believes in stupid myths that stop them from catching criminals or saving someone's life. Even in court they don't check to see if the evidence presented is even possible they just look at it and give it to the jury. A jury made up of biased people, the same type of idiot who believe that punching people you don't like in the face is OK if society says so. They decide whether or not the person accused is guilty even if something presented as evidence can not possible be true because it defies the laws of gravity or that is known not to be true by the right person. They don't look anything up not even on wikipedia at least to make sure that the evidence presented could be true. No that would actually abide by the law. It does not matter if the jury spend 50 years thinking every little detail over, if they believe in something that is not true then the accused is decided guilty or not guilty by chance not because it is a carefully thought out trail. Like for instance there was a trail where some people were accused of killing this guy. They were found not guilty because they said crocs killed the guy. They said crocs came up on land and dragged him into the water. When even wikipedia will tell you that crocs don't hunt on land that they don't just come out of the water because they see something to eat. They wait in the water and attack something they want to eat when it comes near. Why the hell would a croc come out of the water to attack its prey, when it is at an disadvantage out of the water and that most of its prey could get away and even kill injure them. But they believed it anyway they could not have possibly checked that. It was a lie, the people did kill that guy. Stats sound helpful like they could really help you to stay safe. Well how is the stat of woman more likely to be raped by a man help you if you are a man who has been raped by a woman? In fact it would not. And how could it be useful to know that women get raped more then men anyway. I mean the average woman is not every single women on earth. Regardless of whether you got raped or not that stat would have done nothing. And if you believe in myths about rape you are far more likely to get raped. You would just look at a guy and assume that because they are not a stranger that they are safe or assume because you are a man that you won't get raped by a woman. People believe that rape is just random randy act committed by men who want sex and don't know the meaning of no. That "No Means No means No" crap puts millions of people in danger. Rape is not unwanted sex reluctant sex, "I don't think I really want to do this" sex, it is NOT sex. It is only designed to LOOK like sex but it is not sex. Rape is carefully planned to the last detail and most rapists are NOT mentally ill or on drugs. Rapists and other criminals do not live in a bubble, they know about the current BS flying around just like the rest of us do and use it to their advantage. Like the rapist will just ACT as if they just want sex or if they didn't know anything about the person they were planning to rape. They would make sure they planned it just as carefully as ever and then make it seem as if they are just some random randy guys out to rape random mini skirt wearing passersby.

I am so sick of hearing people believe in this kind of BS about everything, from car radios to the proper disposal of computers. I mean how on earth can they not see the gaping holes in their thinking? Are they blind? What is it that I have to enable me to see straight that they don't have? I hear them constantly at it, it seems that everyone and their mother's dog's chew toy's manufacture believe in all sorts of crap. I am so frustrated at having to listen to the crap aimed at me because I am female. But if I was a male or asexual there would be crap thrown at me anyway. Is none safe from these dunderheads?

I feel so frustrated and angry that I feel like killing myself. What's the point of living in a world filled with the morons I'm forced to deal with day in, day out.

I feel really worried. Should I try to talk everyone into believing in some sort of sense? I believe greatly in free will and everyone having their own opinion regardless of how me or anyone else feels about it. But their opinions are really damaging to everyone and really go a long way to help these things to get worse. Should I tell people as much as I can when ever I hear them repeating a myth? Or should I just keep quiet? I'm afraid that maybe I'm meant to tell them and that me informing them could mean the difference between life and death, whether or not someone is raped or whether or not they will think there belly fluff came from the right place or not.I don't want that kind of responsibility on my shoulders.

What will I do? Any suggestions?

PS: What pisses you off?

It makes a big difference in how you give people information. If you call them stupid they are not going to listen to you. They will be too busy feeling defensive and insulted. And yes, you can call some one stupid by the tone of your voice and the expression on your face. You don't have to say it out loud. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Sometimes I'll phrase it like a question and they can come to the conclusion themselves. BTW, I'm curious, what's the deal about the belly button lint? Sounds silly. :)

Without you, the rest of us would have had one less sane person with whom to share this part of our day together.

Maybe you are meant to tell them -- I have certainly felt like that at times. But if you decide to try, be sure to know and to always remember you will *not* be held accountable for whether or not they listen and respond, and that they owe you absolutely nothing for your having tried. I have been there, done that, and worn the T-shirt into a rag.

I want the same thing you want, and maybe you can accomplish something where I seem to have failed. I have only let you know you will not be held accountable for any specific result, and that the folks you might try to enlighten will not be automatically indebted to you for having tried. So, serve as you believe best, and never let anyone discourage you from doing that. Just be sure to go in prepared to accept whatever does or does not ultimately come about. If I had them to do all over again, I would gladly re-do the past 25 years of my life in almost exactly the same way I have lived them while trying to be helpful to others.
