I hate Halloween day at work. Everybody is noisy and loud and it goes on all day. It makes it very hard to concentrate on work and I had a meltdown. It took me nearly 2 hours to do a report that normally takes 15 minutes to do as I could not work with the excessive noise level. And I could not tell EVERYBODY on the flood to be quiet just so I could work! And of course I can't scream or throw things which JUST MAKE IT MORE FRUSTATING.! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

I had a total roadblock today. I was supposed to participate with four coworkers in a sketch for our office Hallowe'en party (I am a community theatre actor, performing is fine for me, as long as it's scripted and has a fourth wall!)

Anyway, the performance would be no problem--but I can't bring myself to go into the room where the party is. Fortunately there are others available to take my place, so that my coworkers aren't being let down.

I've rarely been in a job where people did anything for any holiday. Sometimes other departments (like HR) would be in costume, but never the techies.

I agree... working with lots of noise around you is painful. Why don't you get a pair of earplugs?

Because I do collections. So I am on the phone all day except first thing when I do the report.

Ah... but you can stick in the earplugs while doing the report and then take them out for the rest of the day.

True.

I found out today that people are generally ruder on halloween. I almost lost it over a guy who was upset at how our cash registers rang up something. As if I could do anything about it. One of my managers also mentioned that everyone was being mean/rude today.

At school on Friday... we got candy. A few people dressed up in costumes and I chilled with a vampire. Other than that it was a pretty normal day.

I totally forgot Saturday was halloween and was wondering why the heck so many people were dressed up. And people are ALWAYS expecting you to know exactly what they are.

I know! I have no clue (I haven't put on a Halloween costume or been to a Halloween party in about 25 years - the occasion just does NOTHING for me)
