i feel trapped
i feel somehow cut off and seperated from the outside world, i feel as if i am a prisoner in my own household, i feel instituionalised in my own porgeesive routine lifestyle that i dont even know outgoing people do, even if i was outgoing i fear that this would disrupt the balanced routine of my lifestyle, however i do not want to feel caged for the rest of my life and i want to have the freedom of walking out of my house once in a while or even just seeing my freinds. i guess the most important reason that i dont do this is because i feel as if someone with aspergers isn't meant to live this way.

The other day I felt like I was regressing, back into a life similar to the cage you're talking about. What got me out of it in the first place (5 years ago) was meeting someone with whom I trust completely, and who let me experience new things outside of my routines, in a safe manner.
Maybe that will help you escape your cage - ask someone you trust to do just one thing differently. For me it started with trying different food, then going out to public places, etc. Now I hardly freak out in public if my spouse is there, because their very presence brings order and routine to my life. Perspective change = life change = no longer trapped.
Do you have a person like that who you trust enough?
P.S. I still prefer to stay home and keep to my routines, but if my spouse says "Let's go out", I know I will manage a good few hours without freaking out.

I used to spend Saturdays in my apartment too afraid to leave and get some fast food, for fear that I forgot how to drive my car. Eventually I would work up the courage and go get some food. But at that time I did not even know that I had Aspergers. I had no idea where I came up with such crazy ideas. Looking back I can now know where the feelings came from. Knowing that I have Aspergers really put my life into perspective. Just try to adjust your routine slowly, and always know where the feeling is coming from.

I think that is some good advice.
