I brought these up on here before but on other forums people are always asking why I hate Meerkat Manor and so I tell them why:
A friend of mine who runs a meerkat rescue center in California has a friend who is an Animal Planet producer and when she shared a story I wrote with her and heard that I was Autistic, she wanted to make a documentary about the bond Autistic people have with animals which would feature me. They would fly me out to the meerkat lady's place and then to Africa to see wild meerkats and meet with this meerkat biologist. Animal Planet refused to do it because they were working on Meerkat Manor and did not want two meerkat shows at the same time. I went into a depression and a part of my soul died. It took me a while to figure out who to be mad at, my friend for showing my story, the documentary lady for thinking it up, Animal Planet for refusing or all of them. I've finnaly decided that my friend and the animal planet lady aren't to blame they were just trying to do something nice for me. Animal Planet is just a selfish company and I hate them.
This is their responses
Don't set yourself up for dissapointment, thats my motto. Whenever me and my family are planning something excellent, I'll always doubt that it will happen. Therefore if I get told it isn't possible, I'm a lil sad but it doesn't bother me.
Plus, you can't blame other people for things not happening when it isn't their fault.
How is it not Animal Planet's fault? They had the resources to do it.

I don't really think Animal Planet is "selfish" because they don't want to produce a show..

I understand you are upset you have a right to be. But try looking at it this way, Animal Planet doesn't deserve having doing a story on you.

That is sensible decision, you don't want to burn out people's interest in meerkats by saturating the market with multiple shows on the same subject.

And the Animal planet people are people too, there's only so may things they can take on at one time.

And with the economy down they may not have had the money to do both at once or if they did may have had trouble getting advertisers to want to pay.

While it is deeply disappointing, that is the reality of life.

That was way back in 2003, so how could the ecomony effect it?

Hi PunkyCat,

They shouldn't have told you that they would bring you to Africa. And than suddenly change their plans. That would make me angry too. Next time when you get an offer like that, let them put it in writing, so that yo have proof.
