Whether it's a sensible practice or not, when a response comes back from someone I'm speaking with or writing to that gives the impression what I said wasn't listened to, all following responses are dismissed before they happen.

And if one of those following responses suddenly indicates that I am now being listened to, too late! You should have listened the first time.
"When you get it through your head to listen to me the first time, then I will listen to you."

Yes, just had a conversation where the point apparently went in the ears to be sucked into a black hole.

"patience is a virtue"

And when we are able to listen perfectly, all the time, then maybe that would be fair.

Isn't there times where you don't listen to others as well.
An example, you are reading an article about something really interesting, then someone else is talking to you, you would probably answer: "Hold on", or "Just a second".
How do you think this person feels?

It's not because you won't listen at all, it's just that it's a bad time.
But this is not how the other person perceives it, they perceive it like you are doing right now.

So I think the solution is to find patience within yourself, and maybe ask the other person: "Do you have time to listen to me?"
Just a thought from me, I will await responses from other, in case they have a even better solution, which I can use.
