Back on new years eve afternoon, I ordered a couple of things from a company that I have ordered stuff from before. The stuff I order comes through US postal service. It usally takes a week to the day I order it from this company to get here. The comapny took the money from my account without delay, but because of the new year holliday I still don't have the stuff I lawfully paid for and it has been over a week. How fair is that? The company has my money but I don't have the product. Stupid holiday screwing everything up. I have no way to track it because its sent through normal mail.

oh crap. that happened to me once. it was a textbook. turns out that the company never bothered to tell me they were out of stock on my book! we were well into the semester. :wall: ah well. i can relate. why don't you email the company about it? most companies reply in a timely fashion. :/ good luck with your situation!

they're just people. are you suggesting they should work round the clock, without stopping (maybe not even to eat and drink! hey!) i mean, doing things take an amount of time, and doing more things takes more time.

remember, the people doing the actual handling of your order didn't get any extra money from you to do their jobs. it just went to the post office as an entity, to handle your order, and they are in fact in the process of handling it.

they don't "have" your stuff except to handle it, nor do the workers directly "have" your money. but they do have to regularly take in money so the people working there can get their regular paychecks, right?

keep in mind: you can choose the timing of your order. postal workers can't choose the timing of holidays, or choose how many packages go thru them and when, or choose to add hours to a day or to not need sleep or money to do their jobs.

well, maybe you have your stuff now.

I don't blame the company I ordered from. Its the mail system. Thing is I ordered something else online right after I ordered this other stuff. That stuff came UPS and was no delay on shipping.

I should get it monday.

It was wrong of that company to take money for a textbook that they did not have in stock though. They processed the order and took money for something that they knew they did not have.

So, anyone else have anymore shipping horror stories?

Holidays are overrated sometimes. They were just a hassle for me a little bit, last Christmas (in 2009).

You have to accept during the holiday season stuff takes longer. The postal service staff are worked to the bone. You should get it earlier, or wait for the season to pass.

Give it an extra week or two, but if it doesn't show up after an extra 3 weeks, contact them and ask. If they were out of it and took your money anyway, bring up a conflict with your credit card company.
