I feel your pain. I wasn't diagnosed until I was twenty, and I'm still undoing all the "you're just lazy, stupid, and stubborn" I got as a kid. You hear that long enough and it imprints itself on your brain.

There are people here who had no clue until their thirties, forties, or even later... it can be awfully frustrating not to know. Especially in today's modern educational system, where you're either labeled a nerd who somehow deserves to be picked on, or else a "behavior problem".

I honestly believe it is possible to come back from this, though. You know now, and you can start working on building a good life for yourself.

But what do I do ? I'm totally out of school. It's starting to really bother me now.

I used to get detained after maths and got REALLY told off for not doing any work. LAZY the teacher called me. He's shout at me at the end of school while my dad was outside expecting me to come out. And he'd say "Why didn't you ask us then if you didn't know the answer" and the honest truth, and I told him was that I was too scared.

But no. He didnt believe that. Some teachers really need a lesson or two on children with Asperger Syndrome!

My perceptions are sometimes skewed, but I see public school -- aka "government school" -- as little more than a cookie-cutter approach to stamping out "human resources" for one or another type of exploitation.

Who has been helpful to you in the past?
