I own a business..mostly I am a puppet owner..as everything is in my name, but I don't do a whole lot for the company, mostly because i can't.
We wholesale herbs, and today, one of the stores we sell to called me today because they were accidentally sent a 30g bag of something they generally order in 15g bags....It must have been a mistake...thy were charged for the 15g bag.
There are (obvious) reasons why I don't like working with people on the the phone...but I was going over the person's invoice from over a month ago, and in the process, the guy asks me (because of my voice) if I am some kind of flower child..and I politely explain that I am slightly autistic, and have a funny voice..
I don't know whether that was a good or bad thing to say, but he all of a sudden started treating me somewhat more politely...and didn't bother telling me what he wanted me to do about the possibly mislabeled product..

It's strange how people react to it sometimes... Last person I told didn't try and persuade me to go o the pub with them on New Year's Eve, and didn't try and get my attention while I was on the phone because they knew I couldn't process both people trying to communicate with me at once.

Some people are worse to you, and some people are nicer to you, when you tell them...

But even when they're being nicer, I can't help wishing they'd just treat us the same as everyone else.

He may be treeating you more politely but watch out. Some buisiness people will seize on any percieved weakness to increase profit, and that may include using your autism to try to fleece you.

Not saying he will, but just be careful.

I was recently having a conversation with someone who just could not believe the things I was telling him, and I could "hear" the battle going on his mind: He knew the things I was saying were possible, but he was suspicious I was lying in order to get over on someone else. So, I just told him I have Aspereger's Syndrome and find it virtually impossible to lie ... and that was the end of that! Maybe he suddenly believed me, but I would guess he left to go do a little research on Asperger's ... and either way would be fine with me.

Yes ...

"... they were accidentally sent a 30g bag ... [but only got] charged for the 15g bag ... [and] all of a sudden started treating me somewhat more politely...and didn't bother telling me what he wanted me to do about [the error].."

Well it was an error on our part in his favor..it was not as if we were gonna charge him extra because we gave him the wrong bag.

He was being nit picky..and kinda mean...I am familiar with his (somewhat snarky) implication that I was some kinda flower child...Working with certain kinds of people on the phone, because I have an unusual voice/cadence and I stumble over my words..people have often thought I was some kind of forgetful stoner/airhead...they will say stuff like..."I want some of what you're smoking"...etc...and I inform them that I am not smoking anything...

anyway..blah blah...he won't have the opportunity to take advantage of me any further because I seldom deal with store orders for the very reason of my communication difficulties...maybe he felt sheepish for giving me a hard time..

My mind can come to some strange conclusions, and I got this one completely backwards! I was thinking he had called to address the error so you would not lose anything on the deal, then he decided to just be quiet and hope for more mistakes in his favor in the future!

'scuse me, please ...!

That's possible...
I think that he was worried that he had been charged for the 30g bag.
Dunnow..his stores tend to place pretty small orders...He was calling to discuss only a matter of a few dollars an order they had placed over a month ago.
