Who do you live for?

This was the core question around which this japanese Han-ochi movie was build around.
imdb/title/tt0442256/

I saw it this week and it seems that this is very important question in my life. It seems that this question or its close relative (what do you live for?) are at the core of most of my aspie related (mood) problems.

Do you have answer for these questions? How have you found them?

I don't have them. I have never ever in my life felt like I am living for someone other than myself. Not for my parents, not for my girlfriend, not for my friends or co-workers, neither for something inanimate or some idea. It might be fair to say, that maybe I have actually felt and believed that I am living for someone/something, but it was only a during a brisk moment, it never become a pervasive and sustained life-underlying philosophy. And it was never there when I needed it.

I would like to find some answers for these questions. Could you help?

^^ Greetings RadekPilich and a very warm welcome to you! ^^I believe that this is a very interesting question indeedy RadekPilich. Perhaps the magical question "Who/what do you live for"? may also be considered to be similar to "What is your purpose?". I am very sorry if I am incorrect however. I believe that I love Nell and Plato (my kitties) very dearly and wish to care for them very much and ensure that they are happy as I believe that no individuals within my human family love them a very large amount. ^^ However, I believe I love my human family equally also (in addition to Teddy Chester, who are kitties adopted by my sister) and wish to ensure that they are happy. I am very worried that I am not very skilled for this however.

I live for myself. By taking care of myself, and nourishing my needs, I can be here for other people who may require something of my. If I lived for others, (which I used to do) I would feel frustrated, empty, needy and demanding of their appreciation.

I've always lived for somebody else. I lived for my mother, until she killed herself. Then for my son (literally, last time I attempted suicide was when he was eight months old... after it failed I realised I could never do it, because it would hurt him too much.) When I met my second husband I poured myself into his life (I suppose you would say he was my special interest.) Then he died. So I'm still living for my son... though please don't mock me, I also believe now that there is a God who gave me life, and I have no right to take it.

I live for the hope that one day I will be living for myself. As it stands right now, my life is lived to satisfy my family.

I live for myself, and only myself. That's why I'm alive, today. :)

I only live for my family and friends. The only thing keeping me from shooting myself in the head is the fact that I don't want them to be sad.

I live for many thing but the three main reasons are:

I want to fall in love

I want to reach the greatness of the man in my avatar

I think it would be a great waste

I don't know what I live for anymore.

The only thing I think that keeps me going is the fear of ending it. The few times I tried to end it sent me to a hospital. I had an almost fatal one involving a knife stab which hurt like hell. So my only fear is the pain the attempt would put me through again.

I honestly don't know how people are so motivated to live. Life has no meaning and most of what I experience from it is loss. Living just to lose people whom I'm close to f*****g sucks. What's worse for me personally is to know that their loss was meaningless and that I'll never get to see them again.

I think that as human beings, we have the right, not only to survive, but to thrive!

My siblings child I help my parents raise. If it wasn't for that I would probably just end it all. I know that sounds morbid, but I get little pleasure out of life and most of the time feel like I'm just going through the motions.

I live for my almost 2 year old niece. I've had some very dark days and then I'll see one of my many pictures of her smiling, which brings me some warm fuzzy feelings. I have a picture of her as the wallpaper on my laptop and have the Christmas pictures I took as the screensaver. When laying in bed if I turn my head to the right I see the calendar of her which I got for Christmas.

I don't have a person I live for. However, I feel that everything happens for a reason. I was put here to do something, but I have no idea what.

When I'm older I'll be rich. I say this with complete confidence because I know I can do it and I know I'm determined enough to succeed.

So, I live for that goal.

Or do I?

See, I'm not sure. Despite the fact that I've had that dream in my head for years and years, I don't think I'd say I live for that.

I think I know what I live for, and that's simply life itself. I like my life, if I'm honest, and as I said I have confidence in my future success (I'm already working on that too, BTW). I don't really have any reason big enough to not live, though.

So yeah. I live for life, and I live for potential.
