Well, just to get things out of my head, today has been awkward . . . On the up side, i started a new job, but its both EXTREMELY noise and the shift starts at 5:30 am Mon-Thurs with possible Half-day Fridays (40-60 hours/week pending). Well, that went ok (couldnt get over the noise level, but little choice) and I leave for home around 4:30 pm. I come to a stop light about 10 min from home and suddenly this dump truck rear-ends myself and someone else while we're stopped. What a way to end a work day. No one was hurt, thankfully, but it kinda kills the mood you set to calm down after a LONG day at work. Will be taking care of insurance and whatnot over the next few days while borrowing my parent's car until things are taken care of . . . but this is just 10 levels of panic after dealing with 5 levels of it all day . . . <sigh>

<end of rant, and hopes to be able to sleep tonight>

but think about the story you have to share with your co-workers tomorrow! What a marvelous chance to 'bond' with them, for them to share your shock and hassle and joke around that you are glad to be in once piece. And what do you know, every time they think of you they will remember they are 'glad you are OK'! :D Isn't that strange how that happens?

and tomorrow couldn't be as difficult as today, you got that going for you, too.

Ouch!

Glad you're OK! Getting rear-ended, even when not serious, can be disconcerting and sometimes painful.

Also glad to hear you started the new job. Is it something where you might be able to wear headphones or earplugs to help deal with the noise? I am very lucky that I work in an office where if it gets too loud, I can put on my headphones and some relaxing music.

Sorry for the delay, my last few work days have been 12-14 hours long (luckily, this place does expect, and pay for, overtime), so little chance to hop onto the computer. With respect to the sound, they do supply earplugs, and i do use them, but it does little more than muffle some aspects of the job. In one room, they have this massive 3 story "Dryer" used for turning the product from liquid to powder. It's so loud, that even with earplugs in, it literally vibrates your innards (very disconcerting feeling). I did tell the story to others, and apparently they were shocked . . . im guessing the look in their eyes was, "And you're still alive . . . DAMN!" But, here's hoping things go smoother in the days/weeks to come since i'll be working 2 jobs for at least a month (one during week, and one on weekend until college lets out).

Well, in this month long scenario, the weekend job usually ends at 9-9:30 pm, but the weekday job starts at 5:30 am (but i have to wake up around 4:20 am since its a 20 min drive and i like to have a decent window). Sunday nights will be rough (wont get to bed until 10:30 or so, meaning a 5 hr sleep). On the up side, the latest this group runs is 7:30 pm, but that still means a tight sleep schedule.
