I'm rather in awe of all the kind people who take the time to read about another person's problems and respond in a way that doesn't seem insincere or patronizing. I've made a bunch of angry, stupid posts about my angry, stupid problems and even then there are about a handful of people who are really nice and give me advice. I guess what I don't understand is how you people seem to care at all, even when the person in question (me) sounds really, really stupid (like now). A lot of the times I find it hard to care about my friends' issues and end up forcing myself to "feel" for them. It sounds really mean, but I do care, I just don't know how to feel the caring (?) How do you do that to a person you don't just even know? This is probably really stupid of me (again) but I just felt like calling people awesome. I dunno if it would mean anything from a stranger, but I felt like it. So there =P <3

You don't sound stupid :)
many of us have these same issues. What I think you may be having problems with is EXPRESSING the caring feelings you have. That is my exact problem. So what I end up doing is either overeacting in a negative way if there's some kind of problem like an argument (crying, throwing things, irritation depending on the situation- out of frustration) or just kind of saying stock phrases like I'm sorry, it'll be OK, etc...if someone Ilove needs comforting or reassurance. Sometimes I repeat stuff to people when they say nice stuff to me (for ex, "You look beautiful" "Aw, thanks, YOU'RE beautiful"). Even my own husband. It can really come off as insincere :( even though it really isn't. I just get so overwhelmed with the FEELINGS that I can't make them into words. The feelings are definitely there- in mass quantities- I just have trouble verbalizing them or even showing them with body language.
So don't worry, you aren't the only one :)
And I'm sure you're pretty awesome yourself. Only someone who was awesome would bother to post something saying thanks and stuff.

I never feel that caring.
But I really enjoy answering questions.
Also it is called compassion, but is basically sadness about someone else's sadness.
And wanting to make them happy.

I freely admit to being the very opposite of awesome, but I still thank you for your positivity and appreciation for the people on this site. That is very kind of you. Hopefully you don't have to force yourself to care enough to make posts like this, as you referenced in what you said about your friends. But I appreciate your words anyway.

I appreciate your words too.

The main reason that I like to help is because I've been hurt (in my life) and been helped here, so I try to help as best I can.

Thats probably because most people on here can relate to what your feeling and can give you the best advice on what to do or how to cope.

Loads of aspies have helped me in the past :P They are awsome ( i am aspie too but saying i am awsome just sounds big headed :P )

I mean them, I really do. And I actually think that this is the only place in the world where I can show appreciation without worrying about being overeager and sounding fake. I actually like showing appreciation. :D

But I am forced to live in their world, so I've got work to do, sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.

Rule number 1 in wrong planet . . . you'll likely never be the only one who has a certain dilemma. Some here have been through it, and some likely will soon enough. Wording is likely a lifelong process for many of us, and not coming off as angry/insulting is a task in and of itself. As far as caring, with respect to our local "crowd" (for lack of better word), its more along the context of, "We've been where you have before, and here's how we learned to handle it . . . hard way or otherwise." I know, a lot of us here are terrified of messing up because of how we interpret society's near intolerance of mess ups (hell, I'll avoid a job out there is its sole purpose is to mess stuff up and get paid to mess it up). In the end, its just another thing to get used to . . . and pray that the end result doesnt make for future that much difficult. All in all, we're here for rants, advise, laughs, or whatever rocks your boat . . . 24 hours a day, 365.25 days a year :D
