I'm hoping to get financial aid for going back to College and while I REALLY HOPE I get it I'm also kind of scared. Obviously the College issue mistake and not doing something like that again! Also the teacher interaction/questioning IMO all behavior has an emotional component and the interaction=teacher was nice to you. questioning=you want to learn more about *insert field here* Having friends/relationship would ease up this behavior (friends to talk to about my interest or a boyfriend who's nice to me) but I have to CREATE a friendship/relationship FIRST which is scary in and of itself!! !! Willard (when I asked about interest and gave the example of a law student) he mention something to the affect the Aspie would focus on one area of law and would have a hard time learning everything else and in turn completing there course work.

IMO this fit me with learning Psychology. I'm also scared since overall I DON'T KNOW how to change this behavior!! ! While NT's(others) are fine with course work I'm questioning the teacher about an article I found or multiple ones (probably on topics she didn't know much about looking back on it) Also I had a doctors appointment and missed one day of class and was in tears at the doctor and yall know of the trauma of being kicked out. I CAN'T EVEN FUNCTION with a doctor's appointment College became MY LIFE! Sadly this isn't normal. :-( I'm kind of lost about this issue. Any tips would be appreciated (because Psychology or other field my AS/special interest brain will take over and it WILL BE ALL I DO/TALK/THINK ABOUT!) :-)

Thanks

I was also kicked out from college because of the depression (I didn´t go to college for a whole year and a half and only stayed at home). It can be quite traumatic, I know, but I guess that you have to move on with your life. I´m not recovered yet but in the middle of the crisis I decided I´m was not going back to the economics college and was going to study physics! :). And I´m very determined to do that. I also thought "OMG I am going to mess up things again just like the last time!". And I was really scared of messing up things again but you have to be confident and trust yourself. Just think that you have a second chance to finish the course and that things don´t need to go as bad as they did in the first time. Also some teachers at college don´t pay much attention to students and some of them aren´t interested in talking to students. Sometimes is difficult to find a teacher that will give you enough attention and they have so many students to advise and to answer questions! I guess that would be better if you made some friends that are also interested in the psychology topics that you are interested as you said. My friends used to talk alot about economics and work, if fact it was almost all they talked about! About the "obsesive" interests about certain topics I was also like that. mmm but you have to postpone a bit your interests and focus on the subjects you are studying in the specific class.

In certain ways your experience reminds me of my own. Hope that everything be ok!
