What's going on here?
I never know whether to think I've made progress or not when it comes to normal friend behaviour. Some of my friends have this certain group mentality, and I don't understand it at all. I'm technically in the group, but I have to try really hard to assert myself in group situations. Not only this, but there is a "core" group, with the five original members, and while they remind me that I am a part of the group, the members of those five that don't like me as much always try to reaffirm the importance of the five (which is appealing to all of them, but not necessarily because it excludes me), as a means of asserting THEIR position in the group.
I thought I was really good friends with a couple of them, group be damned, and that the secrets and lies had stopped, such as times when the group would get together for nights or events that I would have wanted to be a part of. Some of them let down the tires on my car while at a party, and I thought my friends had turned slightly off them for doing that (at the very least), and there was evidence that the group had divided, and my friends were spending more time with me and friends of ours, rather than the group for the sake of the group.
It turns out now that four of the five, including my two of my three best friends, have now secretly planned a trip to New York to see Roger Waters in concert, as he has not announced dates for Australia. I'm a bigger Pink Floyd fan than three of them (a huge fan; Roger Waters and David Gilmour are among my idols), and me and the other diehard Floyd fan who is going have previously talked about going to America after university to become acquainted with the music scene of Los Angeles, as we are making music together, but finding difficulties with the lack of enthusiasm from society at large here in Adelaide.
It's f***ing me over, as I don't know what to think. I don't know if they are really my friends or not, or if they are, but are concerned for my interests by not informing me, as the two others wouldn't have wanted me to come with them anyway, or if they simply forgot, or whether they're not really going but wanted to test me as a means of shaking off my Asperger's in some way, which they have done in the past, to my benefit. I burned the skin on my left arm, but achieved nothing but a bad smell and less arm hair.
When my friend and his band went to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, I was depressive until they came back. The band's subsequent break-up was a load off my mind. No more Australian tours. The thought of missing out tormented me like nothing I could have imagined. This is worse.
I've wondered this before, voicing it in another thread, but I think I'm a full-blooded psychopath.
It turns out that they didn't invite me and certain others because we're under 21 and hence won't be able to get into certain places in the US. Oh, that just makes me SO happy.
