Does this happen to you? You see somebody you know, they catch eye contact, then avert it and look sort of like they're mad or uncomfortable or something, but they still say hi to you so as not to be mean. God, I'm starting to hate people. I wanna throw up. This happens to me so often, like I'm some heathen freak. I almost wanna die so I don't have to deal with it anymore.

Yes, they look like they're afraid of me or sometimes laugh to themselves or with their company. I don't let it bother me anymore. If it's someone other than a random stranger in passing, I have trouble dealing with it...like a co worker or extended family member.

Well, I get it more from acquaintances or people I sorta know... like, "uh, it's that guy. Um..." Why the hell does this even happen? I can't take it anymore. And is it fear, or disgust?

That happens to me, from time to time. Those people are the ones with the problem.

I remember part of RP Feynman's memoirs, where he talks about being evaluated for military service. During the psych evaluation, the person asks him if he ever feels like everyone is looking at him. He laughs, because it's not true... but then he turns around, and everyone IS staring at him. 8O

Another aspect of my nightmare that is my life...

...only to make matters worse, people will actually come up to me and talk to me about the weird things they notice about me.

Why cant they just leave their weird observations of me to themselves?!

People at church look at me like if some divine force gave them the right to just stare they all do so at the same time when I move around. I know that they might be curious about me because I'm quiet, but I think that is rude.
Who's the weirdo?

Wow, that's rude. I hate it when people do that. This one fat ass does it to me in this gaming group I'm in. As if he's any cooler than I am. I've basically resulted to ignoring him.

Oh yes, definitely. That happens to me pretty much all the time. Growing up, I really wasn't fully aware of it, or why people treated me the way they did, since I wasn't aware of my strangeness at the time. I liked myself back then, because I was oblivious.

Now that I've learned about AS and its characteristics, I know it's my mannerisms and my eye contact that make me seem odd, I suppose it's a natural reaction from the majority of "normal" people. I suffered terribly from rejection after rejection from people I formed attachments.

I've had to come to terms with it, since it's something I can't change. I realize I'm not going to be like the majority of people, ever. In accepting that, I found it rather liberating. I started liking myself again.

It's like being born a mutant or something. You focus on your inner strengths, and develop yourself to where you accept yourself along with your imperfections, because in reality, everyone has some sort of fault or imperfection, it's just some learn to hide it better than others.

This society I live in for example, thanks to the influx of mass media and its unrealistic expectations, seems to be obsessed with being perfect, in appearance, intelligence, mannerisms, etc. People as a result are hyper-critical, and quick to express their criticisms with one another. Therefore many people learn to be overly self critical and miserable.
Then the self help industry makes a mint trying to help people convince themselves to accept themselves and their differences, and in turn to accept others and their quirks. The world is a strange, imperfect place, and too many people don't seem to notice their own weirdness.

I suppose if you are surrounded by people with similar "weirdnesses", then it will come across as "normal". LOL

People are always looking at me as though I'm a nutter. I wouldn't mind if they glared at me for a reason, but when I'm just another human being walking along minding my own business, I think it's rather rude for people to just give me that look. I only glance at people who pass - I don't stare at them or glare as though they're weird. But when I glance at some people I catch them already looking at me, and sometimes the way they look at me makes me feel like Elephant Man, or some other disfigured person.

If glares can kill, I would have been dead millions of times by now.

I get odd looks all the time. Most of the time it's when I'm in my Renaissance garb. XD

When I'm in normal clothes, I still get people looking at me. It's probably because I'm a fat girl or that I'm laughing too loud. *shrug* Sometimes it bothers me, other times it doesn't. It depends on the mood I'm in.

I had part of my jaw removed end last year because of a bone tumour. I dont look any different most of the time, but feel horribly disfigured. People do look, especially on a poorly day. Sometimes I want to run away, sometimes I want to cry, and sometimes I hold in the urge to batter them.

I must mention this to my therapist.

What really bugs me is when it is someone completely random.
