I really do understand. My mama san, Gretta, died in a terrible accident, one baby who was weak, I kept in the house by the wood stove & hand fed but he did not make it.
I was so happy to have them when my baby was found to have a milk allergy, but could tolerate goats milk, so he was raised on it.

The Provensens have given us another wonderful glimpse at their farm, which was first introduced in The Year At Maple Hill Farm. Here we meet two dogs, five horses, a pig, some geese, chickens, cows, goats, sheep and four special cats. The wonderful watercolor illustrations compliment the humor of the words in describing the various personalities of these animals. Most of the animals have names, and their behavior is described in conversational text¾"Baby lambs are pretty and full of fun. They run together. They jump together. They play King of the Mountain. The only trouble with baby lambs is that they grow so quickly and become sheep." The simplicity of the art and the importance of every animal's eyes make this a friendly book for sharing with children of many ages. This oversize book deserves a place in homes and libraries. A New York Times Outstanding Book of the Year. 2001 (orig. 1974),
This was my favorite book to read over and over to the kids. I highly recommend it.
My favorite line of the cats is, "Max hates snakes"
Thanks, it means a lot. I am sorry about the goats you lost. It wasnt until I moved to this farm that I realised I liked goats and sheep, I have had no contact with farm animals up to this point.
The lambs are so adorable, they live in an open glasshouse surrounded by grass, and there is a chicken wire fence around the area. when they see me coming they often jump the fence to get at the milk bottle first, especially Baabara, who was the first to learn to climb the fence...
It is helpful to hear from people who understand. People around me have been helpful too, my boyfriend is sad too. He always picked Eeyore up, saying that he was so soft and fluffy that it was hard not to. His mother is sad too. The people who live at the farm where he was staying I would say are the most upset of all.
