I don't know what I should do.

I've been walking through the local park, that also has a school, and a school yard that the local youths like to hang around, in order to get to my Overeaters Annomonyous meetings, at 7 on Wednesday evenings. They like to make comments about me, as I walk to my 7PM meeting, and as I walk home, at 8:45PM. They also like to swear, and I've turned my head, just to see three rocker type kids, attempting to sneak up to me, thinking that they could do something to me, on my walk, back home. I've crossed the street, and I've turned my head to see, if they were still following me, but they were gone. I'm afraid that those same kids would try to follow me into the Rec Centre, sometime in the future, and pull their knives on me. Should I keep going to those meetings?

Why do you want to stop?

I think you should change your route so you don't walk right past them. While it is unlikely that they will follow you into the rec center, they may escalate the harrassment that happens as you walk right past them. If there really isn't a different way to get there, see if you can get somebody to walk with you at least just for that part of the walk.

As others said, is there an alternative route? If not, would you consider informing the police about the incidents?

It makes me angry to hear of others being prevented from living their lives because of the actions of bullies.

Can you get a lift from somebody who is going to the same place?
Maybe use a devious route on public transit?
Take a cab? I know that's expensive but if it keeps you safe it's worth the price.

I don't know if these guys are really dangerous or just stupid & young & brash.
And I don't want to find out. I think you would have to assume danger,
and don't be visible to these guys at all. It sounds like they are escalating.

Yes, tell the police.

Be safe!

I don't want to stop, but if those kids keep it up, and the people in my group make excuses as to why they can't drive me back to my place, which is only two blocks away, and last night's incident turns out, not to be a one time thing, I'll have to find another programme to go to, that will cost money.

Thank you for the ideas. I'll see if I can get one of them to drive me. If I can't do that, I'll get a taxi.

There isn't an alternate route, but I can inform the police about the incident.

what are your options in terms of weapons for self protection? If you are in the UK I know your options are pretty limited, is there anything you can carry for self protection? I know guns and pepper spray are completely out of the question, its unfortunate.
