Guys, I am in need of your help and advice again, I'm afraid. My motivation and enthusiasm have been nearly dead lately, and I want them back. Here are a few examples. Yesterday, on the first day back to college, after all my classes were over, I was not in the mood to go home. Today, after school, I tried going to the mall and two ceiling fan stores in hopes of bringing my motivation back up, but all that did was make me hyperactive when I got home. I also feel too lazy to listen to CDs. Lately, all I've wanted to do is flip on the radio and be done, but normally, I love listening to CDs. I used to have some motivation to play my Nintendo DS on occasion, but even that motivation is gone now. Someone please help me before this laziness starts costing me school grades as well!

That doesn't sound like laziness (Trust me, I KNOW laziness, he's sitting on the couch), that sounds more like apathy, or possibly a low point, like a small depression....You might not be depressed and it might not go as far a sa clinical depression, but the whole back to school thing might just be what's thrown you off. I think alot of people are off about the b.t.s. things.

Depression...the inability to get joy from everyday activities, worse if its activities that once excited you.
I really think this is depression, not motivation issue.Motivation ussually involves doing thigs you "dont" enjoy doing but need to get done.

Well, if it's depression, then what should I do about it? ALso, I forgot to tell you. This has been going on since July 2006.

I'd talk to someone who could help. I had some understanding psychs, so I don't know if you have something like that to turn to. If you can find out thr root of what maybe started teh episode (Like moving, big things at school, personal issues) then you might be able to attack it from there. If you need to, talk with a doctor about a temporary medication plan. That usually works well. It will definetly take time to heal, but you'll feel alot better after a treatment is going. I found when I was depressed, talk therapy worked better than any drug plan. It may not be the case for you, but you will get better. :)

Good luck healing! :D

I think talk therapy(with someone who understands AS!!!really important IMHO)and considering low dose of anti-depressents(especially if you have a family history)is really important. You are in the early stage and there is much more chance of pulling out of it the sooner you get help>(otherwise it can get to be a "way of life" and this is much harder to treat.)Sometimes the hardest part, when you are depressed is getting up the energy to seek help...pretty ironic. But it can be worth the effort and help you avoid alot of hassles later that depression can lead to.And if you dont find the "right" therapist the first time....dont be afraid to keep looking.(there are some real loonies out there)

im never motivated to do anything either, being motivated is overrated, the vast majority of people say you have to be upbeat and smiling all the time and show great interests in almost everything like its one big party. i say no, and refuse to do it.

I second the depresion thing. Intervene before it becomes rooted in your core being and you are locked in a negative spiral.

That IS ironic. After being in severe depression for the past three years, I finaly got myself together to seek help.
And even more ironic is that the psychs didn't want to help me because they refused people with AS. *sigh*

Psycs who doent want to counsel people with AS.....what a shock>>>>Is it because we "question" their inate authority or can see through their logic flaws and call them on it....is it because they dont have enough "empathy" to help people who feel and process defferently then their defined "norms"?I am really curiouse what their rational is for this...oh wait....that is assuming they are able to reason and not just "feel by rote..."maybe its because they really do see us as another species?Or perhaps, its because they dont enjoy irony and sarcasm?Very perplexing.

I heard of one psych who didn't think anything could be done for people with AS. Go figure. Oh well... The NTs should already know we're going to rule the world with our superior intelligence anyway... well, they should by NOW...
