I've always felt guilty about the fact that my parents were blamed for everything I did wrong as a kid. It's depressing, and I shouldn't have to feel guilty when I haven't done anything wrong, but I can't help it.
Nevertheless, your parents were blamed when they probably shouldn't have been.
I think the jury is still out on how much parents play a role in the behavior of their children. But you were prone to melt-downs and hyperactivity, which certainly was not the fault of your parents.
I don't think you are trying to say that your parents always did everything right? But because they were always being blamed, they may not have learned better how to deal with you in specific situations.
I think it's fair to say that it really wasn't their fault nor was it your fault. You both did your best based on what you knew at the time. Now that you better understand yourself and your neurological condition, hopefully you can deal with these situations better in the future.
