I was running around doing house chores as I usually do. and I stepped on the dog (I guess her paw not sure) then my parents yelled at me as usual (slow down/you're going to hurt the dog etc.) :-( I never watch where I am going and just go on auto pilot I guess. :-( I'm usually not aware of my surroundings and just go. :-( Does anyone else do this? (Obviously if we had big dogs I wouldn't have this issue of hurting the dogs) :-(

I'm a little more aware of my surroundings but I do run around the house.

I do it more if i'm washing up or something, i'll do that, then forget and sort of carry on, on autopilot and end up dropping things.

Everyone does this, especially in places you know and feel comfortable in such as your house.

You also could have hurt yourself by falling over - I'm surprised they didn't consider that option.

I had (small) dogs before and you never know when and where they will decide to rest, so yes accidents happened and I wouldn't beat myself over that if I were you.

Well I would not describe it as 'running' around doing anything with me....I am not the most quick paced person. But I do have a tendency to kinda loose track of my surroundings. Or I loose track of what I am doing in the middle of doing it.

I have a 65lb golden retriever who is constantly under foot. It happens.

I used to be like that. One time when I was a teen run-away, I was at an older buddy's house(there to party) and the next morning a small child(maybe 2-3 yrs old) was walking around the kitchen; I walked in and walked into her, knocking her down... because I didn't even notice her in the rm. -totally accidental, but everyone started calling me a weirdo etc... I was always embarrassing myself and didn't know what the hell to do, when I was young.

The auto-pilot thing is how I work though. I get focused and on a mission! I like it!

Yeah I autopilot all the time. My little dog knows to stay out of the way. I think it might have something to do with getting her when my mom was 8 months pregnant and couldn't see her feet lol.

I have stepped on pets and on peopl, bumped into all sorts of things, and run a lawn tractor over my glasses.

Over a lot of years, I do not seem to be significantly clumsier than others around. Can happen to anyone.

As for casting blame -

have a read of Wodehouse' "Goodbyr to All Cats"
