When the Law Does not Serve and Protect
Long story short, I was driving with my friend about a month ago and I was hit by a firetruck that was backing into the firehouse. I had to practice evasive/defensive driving in order to get out the way, otherwise the truck would have hit me on my driver's door. The firetruck's lights were not going off, there was no siren, there was no one directing the traffic, there was no 'backup' beep -- another firetruck backed up into the firehouse a few minutes later and it WAS making a sound, which I told the police officer to take notice of. My friend and I sort of looked at each other and said, "What the HECK just happened...?" No one asked me if I was okay, and the policeman himself proceeded to treat me like I couldn't speak the English language. And...he did not give me the ticket right away!
Today, I went to court for the issue to plead not guilty. Of course, they lied and said that their lights were on, the sirens were going off, and the backup beep was working just fine, and that someone told me to stay where I was. The policeman that had handled the issue when it had first happened even said that inside the building, he didn't hear a sound, but one can hear the sirens from inside the building [especially because the firehouse and police department are...surprise...connected], so if he didn't hear a sound, then their sirens weren't going off! Hello, Inconsistency, pleased to make your acquaintance! Also, the fireman that was pleading as well said that he had his noise canceling headphones on, so it wasn't possible for him to hear anything, but when he was later asked if the sirens were going off, he said yes, and that he heard the back-up beep as well. Hello, Inconsistency! Also, the defendant, judge, policeman, and fireman all work in the same building -- so, hello, conflict of interest! The judge said I was guilty, and minutes later said that I was a waste of his time. I could have gone for an appeal, but I know that it would have been fruitless, as the judge, the policeman, and the fireman are all on each others' side. With a mogul as large as that, there is no chance to defend myself, as well as the fact that it would be to expensive...
Let me say that I truly hate those that are supposed to serve and protect, but who would protect their own pride and their own hides rather than seek justice. I knew from the beginning that they were at fault, and I know that they know this as well, but I never could have imagined them to act as they did. I'm ashamed of these people, and I'm ashamed that they are protecting people with one hand while stabbing them in the back with the other. I feel like the man who was in the prison cell before Edmond Dantes at the Chateau d'If. God will give me justice...I'm going to watch that movie now and watch Edmond get his justice.
i got hit by a boy racer doing about 60 in a 20 zone on the wrong side of the road while the green man was on, i was told there was nothing they could do because i shouldn't have been on the road and there was no evidence despite 6 eye witnesses.
i have had stuff thrown at me from police vans (plastic bottles etc). still, thats Scottish police for you. i got his registration but guess who they believe?
