I was on a Vegetarian/vegan forum this week and I feel hurt and angry about how a moderator there spoke to me (on the forum thread). I just need sympathy because I felt hurt, I felt that this person was needlessly rude. I probably won't go back because of how I felt upset. I'm probably overreacting.

Probably a 'normal' person wouldn't feel so hurt by this. I'm afraid of people in real life, I don't socialise much anymore because of being afraid of being hurt. My social outlet is online. I'm feeling sad.

Sorry about being silly but this hurts

You are probably not overreacting. If I posted to some forum and a moderator gave me a hard time there I would probably just leave and find a different place to post stuff. WP seems like a friendly place, for example. Who cares what a "normal" person would feel. Post where you feel welcome.

Thanks to you both. I'm glad to have my feelings validated.

The felt thing made me giggle (no offence meant), feeling much better now. Thank you guys so much.

I get horribly wounded and remember negative comments for decades. Also, when I became vegan, I found there is a vocal minority of what my hubby (20+ years vegan) calls stick-up-their-ass vegans. They can be a harsh lot. They defeat their expressed intentions of spreading the good of veganism because what they really want is to feel morally superior.

I think this may be the case here. I hope this person isn't so horrible in real life to people. This person wouldn't have friends in real life if he reacted the same in face-to-face interactions. Thanks ItsBridget.

I really dislike nasty people. I posted a response to this person (to the post that really upset me) and it seemed that he purposefully misunderstood everything I said. He also said where I was from (country) to everyone on the thread when I have that information set to hidden.

I'm not saying the name of the site because apart from this one person, they seem nice enough and they have usefull information and I won't tarnish somewhere because of one nasty person.

I'm so glad that WP exists and that so many nice, kind people are here.

For some reason my heart is racing and I feel really warm (over-warm) and I feel pressure above my eyes. Is this a panic attack pre-curser? or something I should be concerned about?

You are always welcome to discuss Veggie/Vegan topics here :) You might not find as many people who share your lifestyle, but we all understand the AS thing and the Mods promise to be nice.

You know half the time "moderators" are 15 year old kids? I wouldn't worry about it.
I've met some very bullying and jerky mods and admins of places. If you think they are out of line report them to an administrator. If its the admin you have a problem with leave the forum.

A lot of forum mods are on power trips, and they find excuses to "moderate", the best mods are those who don't want to be a mod.

I used to go to a forum and a bunch of members there were teens, so were the mods. I once heard on that forum by a few users that a tons of mods have been fired there for abusing their powers and new ones be selected. I have suspected mod abuse there as well because I would always see threads locked, if a mod didn't like the thread, they'd lock it.

I also used to go to another forum and some people would say the admin there abused his powers because of how he talked to his members. He was harsh and sounded rude at times. Some viewed him as a bully or narcissist or arrogant.

I think you should either have the other mods look into it or leave. This is nothing to get hurt over. It's just losers on the internet who probably don't have the balls (or whatever the lady counterpart is lol) to act as rude in real life.

I think you should actively start establishing a social life. You know you're spending too much time in the internet when you take things personally. You're better off feeling the fear but doing it anyways. Take this from a dude who's struggled with social anxiety since he was a kid but has gotten a lot better since he actively went out of his way to fulfill his social needs.

I got there on about my third day, but now I think I can hold out at about 50/50!

Thanks. I know the mods are great here. Everyone else is usually nice (and great) and have good intentions.

I was using this other place to try and get over my fear by incriments, it's possible that it was a silly idea. I think I won't go back to the forum there and I'll see about getting rid of the log in thingie. I'm going to try real live stuff but I live far out in the country and it's hard to get out to socialise. I'm moving to a town soon though and this should get easier then.
