Creep?
Ok, busted. But hear me out.
Group presentation. There's three of us. None of us star pupils, so we opt to share the workload out so that each of us does a question and writes the powerpoint slides for that question. The agreement is that we each present our 'bit'.
So far, so perfectly mundane?
Right, so Mr... I think he looks like a reptile, so let's call him Slither.... no that's unfair to snakes... Mr Slime... anyway, he tells me the day before that he has been 'reading up' on his part but hasn't done his slides yet. He tells the other guy that he just has left his USB at home and he has slides done... whatever. We email him our slides so he can stick them together and add in his own.
The next day, 2 minutes before the presentation, Slime tells me that since he only has one slide (he doesn't. I copied and pasted his email onto a slide though, so I think that's what he was referring to), it makes no sense for him to go up and speak... so I should do it instead, after the first guy does his bit.
I'm surprised at the cheek! I tell him that I can't present his 'slide' as I didn't research and answer that particular question- that was his job. He then gets slightly petulant and goes 'so you're saying you want me to stand up and just present the one slide..?' like it's my fault that he hasn't bothered to do the work.
I say yes.
Then I relent and give him a few of mine (they're conveniently in front of his slide because lo and behold, he has not rearranged anything like he said he would). So he stands up and talks (very badly... you'd think you'd at least read the presentation, even if you don't plan on doing any additional work). Then, at the end of his Slide, he starts skimming down over my part of the question! All the way to the end of the presentation. The professor who's monitoring the presentations stands up and thanks us for the presentation and I never even get a chance to go through my slides!
I'm not upset that I didn't get to speak- I hate public speaking- it's just the sneakiness of his little revenge tactic... I didn't think people like that existed over the age of 12...
I went up to him afterwards and asked what happened; he just stared back with this little smirk and didn't answer, so I asked again "what happened, you skimmed through all my slides. Why?'
Since it's clear I'm not going to go away, he just calmly goes 'well, what do you want me to do about it..?'
I said I just wanted to know why (knowing damn well why- he was pissed I made him stand up and present badly). He said he didn't- he was just checking to see if he'd finished his part. To which I responded he'd only done one slide in the entire presentation, it should have been obvious when he'd finished his bit.
He then said 'I scrolled back again. It's not my fault the professor stopped the presentation'. Ugh. He scrolled, slowly, till the end of the presentation. And then he scrolled, slowly, back up to the beginning. OK, the professor could have said 'present the rest', but if you've just 'finished' the presentation, why bother? And if it was a 'accident', why not apologise?
This guy's got a reputation as being lazy as f**k, and I always got a creepy vibe off him, but I'm still stunned at the sneakiness of his little 'sabotage'. I mean, grow the f**k up...
I'm not really angry- there's not much point wasting energy with creeps like this, but I hope to god I don't ever have to work with him. I mean, what the f**k, he's training to be a doctor- have a bit of integrity!
Anways, I'm a big believer in karma. Hopefully he'll his next year
