I moved us into an apartment complex because there's a guaranteed maintenance response. This is after we spent 2 weeks during the hottest part of a Florida Summer without any AC while the landlord for the single family home we were renting shopped around for the best price. Well, the AC conked out tonight. My five year old has a fever that's 100+. So we call after-hours maintenance. They won't come out. It has to be over 80 degrees he said. It was 79 degrees. Can anything be more lame? No exceptions, not even for medical reasons. He just wouldn't budge because he didn't want to move his ass to work.
And if the baby wasn't sick, I would b***h about waiting until morning but I'd still wait it out like a big girl and get over it. It's that the baby IS sick. I took him on an unnecessary trip to the ER just so I could have him in AC for a couple hours.
So we're moving again. I made this sacrifice with a smaller place so we could have amenities. If we don't actually have amenities, I'd rather we have the space so my boys can practice their drums, my dog has a yard to run in, and I've got somewhere to do yoga where 500+ people can't watch me.
The irony? There's a bigger place for cheaper that has a fence closer to the kids' schools. Looks like it's lease-breaking time!
OMFG it's 2:45am and I am melting. I can only imagine how my poor baby feels.

Put some cool washcloths on him to help bring the fever down. If it exceeds 103 and stays there for an extended period of time, take him to the hospital.
