Cure for autism

If there was a cure for autism, do you think your life would be happier and more successful? Maybe a better paying job, further education, better loving family? :(

No. Right now AS is literally the smallest issue in my life.

More successful? Probably, since success comes with submitting to becoming standardised to fit into society's slots.

Further education? Probably, since I'd suddenly be incapable of smelling all the bovine excrement dished out in the educational system. Which, for me, means that would be a negative. I like my ability to see that the Emperor is strutting around without any clothes on.

Better loving family? Well, let's see: if they don't love me the way I am, then they don't really love me, they would just be more willing to fake it if I pretended to be what they wanted. So, no. I don't think that would happen, just the illusion of it.

Happier? No way. This is who I am; this is what I am. Any cure would make me an alien even to myself. No thanks!

Depends on what I would have to sacrifice. If it meant losing the traits I do like about myself, then no. I'll find a way to deal with the negatives.
