God He's SO F***ING NEEDY!!
Hello all Wrong Planet-eers...I really need to express myself about my youngest brother, and how his dependency is driving me up the wall!
You see, I'm the closest person he has in his life to a playmate and a friend, because he's just as equally screwed up in the head as I am, if not more. Well, because of this too-close relationship that we share, he constantly HOUNDS ME, not just for attention via phone calls and Skype conversations, but for doing just about ALL of his shopping for him. That is, have mom take me to a grocery store, pick up his food (which half the time is junk food), AND have *ME* pay for it out of my own food stamp money. True, he does rarely pay me back for it, but most of the time expects me to buy the stuff out of the goodness of my heart..
To be honest, I've always secretly resented being persuaded by him to buy his food, but I never complained until now because I can sort of understand why. On top of his already large case of paranoia, he's also almost 28 STONE! As a consequence, I'm assuming he must feel embarrassed to shop for the kinds of food he asks me to buy for him, for fear of being looked down on and judged.
Well, anyway, getting back to the point, this afternoon was when things came to a head for me. He called me about 3 hours ago to ask me to pick up some food for him (and to his credit, most of it wasn't junk food), so I made the list and we hung up. Then about an hour before I posted this, he called me and woke me out of a semi-deep sleep so that he could add something else to the list. I said that he was pushing it, but I said I'd try. Then he asked me if I'd like to chat with him over Skype, and when I said I was still a little sleepy, he f***ing hung up on me without even saying 'bye'! !
Well, NO MORE! I'm not going to be his goddamn delivery boy ANYMORE! Unless he learns to stop asking me for favors that he could do himself when Mom and Dad can't do it for him, he can just buy his own damn groceries!
Additional: I did offer to give him ten dollars of my own money in hard cash so he could buy the normal food he needed; I told Dad that I was willing to do that, but that he'd have to shop for them himself. His response after I got off the phone with Dad?
"You're a f**king weasel, you know that?"
Hmph, some gratitude for ya...

Start buying him healthy food. It's your money, you can choose what to buy. If he doesn't like it he can starve. And when he gets used to that, tell him to get his own food and stuff.
He'll get so sick of it and hopefully realize that he needs to grow up.
Though I quite agree that you should totally just stop altogether to teach him to be more grateful. God, he should try being autistic and growing up in poverty for a second.

Well, you see, I don't choose what foods he eats; I bought what he lists off. I mean, he doesn't always eat junk foods. But what sadly makes up for that is his mass consumption of regular soda! No WONDER he's almost 400 pounds! I mean, I'm no featherweight myself at 233lbs, and I have a soda addiction too, but I've always bought diet soda for the last 10 years or so (regular soda just tastes too sicky sweet to me now) and have learned to make my 12-packs stretch.
I mean, as much as he pisses me off with his neediness, I still can't help but worry for him. I don't want him to die of a massive heart attack before he's even 30. And if it's not the heart attack that kills him, it'll probably be his 'depression' that'll drive him to a successful suicide attempt.
*sighs* What shall I do?
You are an enabler and need to stop buying him food.
or be dieting buddies, both of you agree to eat healthy and go on walks together. Researching diet and walking might give him the 'you' time he needs also.
