Hey guys/girls I've got a question I'm hoping y'all can answer. I was recently told that all I need to get girls is exude confidence. My only issue is that I have no idea what confidence truly is. Whats your definition?

It sounds cliche but this is true:
Getting girls is too shallow. Tricking them into liking you by pretending to be something you're not doesn't work. That doesn't mean you can't work to be more like you want to be but don't pretend to be someone you're not. What does work is embracing who you are and reject that you are inferior in any way- because you're not. You're just different.
There is no benefit in being 'normal' other than the majority of people are 'normal'. It is also true that the majority of people will never accomplish anything significant because they're normal. It is only the people that are different and extraordinary like you that do such things. You will exude confidence when you're fine with who you are and not trying to be anyone but you.

Self respect
Self Esteem
Self knowledge (Esp. What I'm good at or not/what my limitations are)
Self control
Liking myself

But I try not to confuse egotism with self confidence. There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Especially if I'm feeling 'less than' other people.

Personally, I can't stand men who are brash. I'd rather advice you to be sincere and genuine, but know your own worth as well. Being polite and considerate goes a long way.

I wouldn't consider brashness to be confidence.
Confidence is just the absence of discomfort and the unwavering trust in your abilities to handle the situation. If someone is truly confident I think it's passive and not consciously acknowledged by them.
Everyone is confident in some situations and unconfident in others.

I do agree that from what I've seen, most women respond to confidence. But as was stated earlier, pursuing shallow interests will never be fulfilling. Build up your confidence because you want to feel better about yourself, and good things will come.

If you play video games for example you're probably pretty confident soloing that group of 20 sea raiders or whatever, but your grandmother would freak out and not know which buttons to press.

I prefer un-confident men, since I'm un-confident myself.

So basically walking a tightrope.

Yup.
And even there, it is a balance about realizing and being aware that you are walking on a tight rope but not being afraid

Whenever I hear the phrase "Exuding confidence", I imagine somebody with sticky mess dribbling out of their skin :eew:

I think the best thing you can do is be yourself. When you meet a girl who wants to be with you, it will be because she likes who you are.

If you try and be someone you're not, all the girls who show interest will be interested in the fake you, instead of the real you. You deserve better than that.

In order to be confident in who you are, you have to know who you are. Of course, most people don't know who they are, so the next best thing is to give off the illusion that you know who you are, and the best way to do that is to be consistent. Sometimes a girl will say "Well, he may be an a**hole, but at least I know what I'm getting" If you switch it up all the time, or share too much too soon, she will go on sensory overload, and there are plenty of other guys willing to take your place as the potential number 1. Girls don't like it when guys are afraid of them, and so they prefer confident guys. Guy that is afraid=guy that just wants sex. Fair or not, that's what they usually see.

Of course, these days there isn't a whole lot to be confident about, and so the girls are going nuts, and relationships are out of whack.

Yeah that's basically how I feel when people try to say it's a balance between both extremes. Am I supposed to find a dead balance or lean towards one of em after looking at it through a balanced perspective? The dead balance seems like such a thin line.

I think that you can get away with leaning towards sides, but it is all about how much you lean. However much you lean, is how much others perceive. Of course if everyone walked the line, this world would be perfect...but it isn't. It is about trying to balance, trying to be in the middle.
