Scared about not getting enough sleep
Hi all,
I'm currently waking up once or twice a night and waking up in the morning not feeling rested but most times I have things I have to do first thing (example, let the dog out for a pee). This is really stressing me out because I got some solid nights sleep a few nights ago and thought my sleep pattern was back to normal.
When I don't feel rested after a few nights sleep, I get accident prone. I'm a little clumsy anyways but when I've not had a proper sleep it's a problem. I've fallen on a chair when carrying it and almost broke a bone when I was really having problems with my sleep. If I wake in the morning I usually can't go back to sleep anyways. I'm scared.
Any help or sympathy would help. Thanks for your time.

Could be many issues.. hormonal, medicinal (if you're on any meds right now), maybe stress and anxiety, environmental.. or just an uncomfortable bed.
If its environmental, try doing things like making sure the tv is off before you go to sleep. Its ok to watch tv before bed, but give yourself an hour without it before hand so you can lay down and rest your eyes.
Don't drink caffeine in the middle of the day, not only does it keep you up, caffeine is a diuretic and can make you go to the bathroom often.
If its stress.. I suggest practical solutions like exercising. Generally away from environents/people that could be stressors, just do it way before bed as this could keep you awake also.
If none of these works, sorry. I've dealt with sleeping problems myself.
Thanks Greatsharkbite, I didn't think about the diuretic effect of caffeine. I'll stick to a mug of tea in the morning (and substitute it with water or fruit teas after) and see if things improve. I drink a lot of tea when I'm upset (but have been avoiding drinking it after seven in the evenings).
It could be environmental but social, my Mother was saying to me that I could be stressing about my bf's exams. I do tend to react to emotions in the house as my own sometimes so this could easily be it.
Thank you so much. I've been worried because of the fear of becoming accident prone again, having suggestions as to what I may need to do to fix this make me feel much better. Thanks again. ![]()

To second that, make sure everything electrical is turned off, mobile phones, computers, tv sets, nothing left on standby either. I used to be like this, I had to make sure it was all off because I was convinced I could hear some kind of 'buzz' if I left anything like that on. I think these things can seriously interupt sleep, even when you're not using them.
