I didn't know him that well (since I live in Canada for most of my life and he's usually in Hong Kong) but it is for that reason that I wish he were still here so that I would get to know him better. But then I'm thinking that even if he was still here, the next time I go back to Hong Kong I might just be typical of myself and not pay attention to family conversations.

I still have a grandma who's here (3 of my grandparents already passed away) and now I'm thinking that if I ever get to meet her again, I would want to get to know her better. Well, at least all of my grandpa's children (including my mom who went back to Hong Kong last minute after receiving news grandpa was in the hospital) and most of his grandchildren were by his bedside.

I know it might not mean much coming from a stranger.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandad meant a lot to me and was one of my biggest "life mentors" in a way so I know how you feel.

I'm sorry you didn't get to know him very well and I really hope you get the chance to get to know you grandma.

Take care.

-Hughey.

I'm sorry to hear that jc6chan. I think sometimes for people like us who don't get to interact with family the way we would like to, their passing on can sometimes be harder to accept. I know I felt that way with all my grandparents who passed on. I have one still living, and I never really get to speak to him, because he stays in another city. Best wishes.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't know what else to say because words can't help in these situations but I can understand your pain. I was in a similar situation some years ago. Take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I only knew two of my grandparents; my paternal grandmother, and my maternal one. I wasn't very close to either of them. I actually felt more sad about the fact that I didn't really grieve at their deaths, then about their actual deaths.

I'm sorry for your loss j6. I knew my grandmother the most, she was like my best friend up until she passed away recently. Death is never easy. All I can say is it's one of those realities that we will all face eventually. If there's anything I've learned, it's trying to get to know the people who are alive and that you love. I hope you're doing ok. This stuff is never easy.
