I have since young, dealt with feelings of frustration, anger, fear, hurt, by self injuring, mainly punching my face and head.
Any situation that causes me pain that I cannot express in words or by getting outwardly angry tends to result in this, and I am wondering if anyone here has experienced the same issue, and has any alternative solutions to deal with the intensity of the emotion ? (quite frankly I wish my emotions would just up and walk away one night, fullstop)
I am getting a bit weary of walking around with black eyes when social interractions become confusing and frustrating.
I've dug my nails into my skin for not being able to express myself the way I want to. I also bit and pick at my fingernails, getting bad hangnails and ripping them off to bleed... other times I scrap my sharp tooth against my knuckles until they bleed.
It's hard being able to express myself and the worst part is that I often don't even know what TRIGGERS my emotional overloads or how to stop them, so you and I are in the same boat. I could get totally worked up over nothing and start making myself bleed and at times it only increases my anxiety because I regret doing it.
My friends online, when I tell them, always ask me why I do it and to tell them what is wrong next time but its so hard because they don't know enough about autism to know and when I tell them it comes off as me being highly emotional and emo.
