I usually feel overwhelmed everyday but today has been worse there was too much to do in one day and i couldn't handle it. I usually have to go through a routine and that was broken too so that made it worse. I have 2 kids with special needs and i feel like i am not a good enough Mom and guilt over everything. I know i am a great Mom but i always feel like whatever i do i am not good enough. I just wish i had a break and i don't have supportive family to watch my kids they only are there when it is convienant for them to talk on the phone but that is it. I know i have better days but the last few havent been the best for me so i am going through alot. I have little time for myself and can't even find time to do anything for me, and by the time my kids go to bed i am going to bed cause i am exhausted so sleep is my only relaxing time. Just needed to get that out and i know tomorrow is another day so thinking positive that it will be better. Sending *hugs* to anyone who needs it too here.

I know what it's like to get overwhelmed. It is particularly difficult being a parent and doubly difficult for somebody who has AS. I am the AS partner in our marriage. My NT wife also gets overwhelmed from time to time. I can escape to work while she is at home with the kids full time. Both have special needs (one is AS the other is a teenager) and are being home schooled. My wife has realised that she too, like me, needs down time to unwind and she also needs some grown up conversation, that does not include talk about parenting.

We are on our own in a foreign country and so have no friends or family to turn to. I am doing my best to help out but my AS does not help in this respect as I find it difficult to socialize and we don't know many english speaking people.

I am shure that you are a great Mom. Kids often are not good at letting you know that.

Hang on in there. I wish you the best of luck in finding some private time and somebody to chat to.

((H)).

Do you have any respite care available in your area? If you are in the US you can call your local Regional Center, they can typically give you respite (a free babysitter) so you can get out a bit, do shopping or even stay in your house while the respite worker plays or cares for your kids. I had this when I lived in the US and it was a big help.

Hey thanks everyone :) Today was a better day and yes i have respite available and haven't used it i know i should. I have this problem that i feel i need to be there for my kids and i try to do it all myself so that puts pressure on me. I will use respite at some point if i have to and i know i should but it's hard to ask for help. I do have my in laws that take my kids sometimes so that is good and i have a husband who watches them if i need to go out so i can't say i don't get a break i just am in a set mode to do it all myself.
