I live with my friend Chloe who is also an aspie. Her mum has made it plainly clear in the past that she doesn't like me or my family we come from very different backgrounds. Anyway Chloe was telling her mum a couple of days ago about all the problems we are having with our neighbours (mentioned previously on this board). However Chloe didn't go into detail about why the neighbours are giving us grief and her mum then said oh "its probably because Catriona aggravated Michael by saying something to him". It made me feel very disappointed to hear this because Chloe's mum doesn't even know the whole story but she automatically assumed the worst of me and blamed me and it isn't even true. I accept that I can be a little "intense" at times but that is me and it isn't a reason for her mum to blame everything on me.

I'm sorry that happened. Often people look for scapegoats when something goes wrong, even if you had nothing to do with things going bad. It happens all the time unfortunately and it's usually a step of someone who senses an opportunity to blame another who is not in a position to argue or fight back.

I can understand why Chloe didn't go into details because there are things both Chloe and I did that partially contributed to the neighbour situation but in no way justify it and she wouldn't want her mum to know that. I guess I find it upsetting that her mum says I am "opinionated" and "rub her up the wrong way". Chloe's gran (her mums mum) rubs me and everyone else up the wrong way she criticizes everything and one day came around and said I am obsessed with cats and cat trinklets. I went to the grans house and it was full of cat trinklets what a hypocrite.

Years ago, I used to be bothered about what people thought of me. I wanted to be accepted by everyone and wanted to be thought of in a good light, and didnt want people thinking badly of me, but then one day I realised that there are some people that will never like me, no matter how hard I try, and thats the way it is.

You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not please all of the people all of the time.

Thats life ! ! so try not to let it bother you so much, if some people just dont 'take' to you. Its not the end of the world. Have confidence in yourself and who you are, and dont change yourself to suit others. we cant be liked by everyone. Thats just the way it is.

*many hugs, if wanted*

I know what you mean - I hate it when someone does that. D; Don't really have any advice.
