I'm beginning to think my kind of creativity is worth very little... that's just really bothering me.

I know there are more important things. So if this is pointless to put this here. just let me know.

Does it mean I should not share my storys and my videos?
I know that a few have seen my work (they seemed to like it)... but it seems like very few are interested.
I really feel that i'm just wasteing my time trying to get my work seen here.

so the question is... should I give up?

If you want to know what i'm talking about... it's in both the art/writng/music section and the tv/video/film section.

i actaully thought the videos belong in the art section... but I decided that wasn't really where they belonged.
I posted a sample of my wrtiting on the art section as well...

at least someone liked it but I still feel like I should just give up.
could anyone tell me what I did wrong? why do i feel like this?
If you can't find it I can post it here... but I don't think I should.

If it's something that fulfills you, you should give it time and effort. Writing, in my opinion, is half talent and half lots of work. Think about it. If you feel that writing is for you, it may be a good idea to go to a creative writing course because they can help give the skills to harness the talent.

I really want people to see my videos.... and read my storys.
I just want to share more of my creations... maybe some of my hand drawn artwork?
I draw useing an ordinary pencil... then, if I want I add color with a colored pencil.

What do you think? should I put anything on the art section? or what about my videos?

this probably isnt the best place to share them as most people don't come on here for that and don't want to take the time to read long exerts from stories.
perhaps you could find a more specialised website to post them on where they would be more appreciated and you would get more feedback. although i'm not saying you shouldn't post them here too- just that they aren't likely to get a huge response, regardless of their quality; so don't be offended

In that case, can someone suggest websites for the following,
Stopmotion animation videos... (not youtube)
as for the storys... I'm not going to worry about them as much.... for now that is.
But what about some drawing/artwork... I know I have not posted any here... so I probally won't...(considering I do not know how)

what I find strange is that most people on the Art/writing/music section are only into music... not art or writing.... Whats up with that?
I do like music but it's not the only thing.

Most people on the tv/film/video section are only into the populer movies... but seem to have no interest in anything else.

maybe I don't really fit in... just becuase I have more interest in more things?

My advice is to do something that pays the bills while you keep up with your creative pursuits. Amanda Hocking didn't hit it big with her first work. I sure didn't with my first book, "Tech Tactics Money Saving Secrets". However, just about everyone I know of who read the book liked it. I sold about 30 paperback editions, 2 Nook Editions, and 2 Kindle Editions. It is frustrating knowing how much work I have put into this book only to have it not sell. However, I have not given up. I'm in the process of writing my second book, "Tech Tactics Computer Repair Secrets." I know that this one may not sell many either. I plan on writing at least five books before deciding whether I want to keep going with my writing career.

I have learned that the average author only sells about 10 to 12 books for each work he or she writes. Keep trying, and you may (or may not) end up getting lucky. The good news is the fact that if just one of these books has a huge number of sales, this book may help sell my other ones. Amanda Hocking was rejected by publisher after publisher, and she put her books on Amazon. Even then, sales were slow until her books finally caught on. She is now a millionaire.

By the way, what methods are you using to promote your work? It's discouraging. I know, because I am going through the same thing. Even if I do not have much success in selling any of my work, I can always use my books to pad my resume should I become able to look for employment in the future. I do know that if one was to search for my name on Google, it will show up on the first page. It may take a few years, but I am getting out there. I hope that I will be one of the few who becomes successful.

Well... my book isn't even close to being finished... but I really feel it is the only good book I can make.

The story posted on this site has nothing to do with my book.
that story was meant to be just for fun... but also so that others could give their opinion.
It was only the first page of the story.

Honestly..... if I do complete my book... i have no clue how to sell it.... and I've worked on my book for so long.
My whole life it's been my dream to complete just one book... the one I've worked on my whole life.
I... just don't think I'll be able to handle the disapointment if my book (not the story I posted here) becomes a failure.
It will only make me feel more worthless... I've worked so long and hard... but I have not worked on my book for in so long.
what if I forget what I was going for with my book?

I'm not capable of a real job... I tried at a place to teach me how to do real jobs...
but they just could not let me use my creative talents.
Can you believe they made me sort out dry macoroni noodles!? and then they made me put it back in the same containor!?
Where was that logic from!? did it come from a cereal box!? what is wrong with those so called normal people!? really!?

also...
They refused to consider my logic when I knew a job was too hard... or that someone was doing that job incorrectly.
The people running that place were just a bunch of nonesense.

I guess no one wants me to be apart of the world... it is very depressing.

If you cannot work, then use your spare time while you put up with their crap. I get others to talk about and recommend my book. Whenever I can provide useful input to an article or blog, I do so. I also put a link to my book page. I try to make sure that any information I provide is useful information. That way I'm giving something useful away and also providing a link to where more information can be found.

If this does not get more people to buy my book, then I may very well give my book away by posting it totally online and embed some advertising in order to try to make at least some money from my hard work. I'm not ready to give up just yet.

I can only comment about the writing aspect--I dabble in it and am a bit of a reader and plan on going into academia in literature.

My first question: How old are you? Most writers don't get success till they are older. When I attempt to write I always wonder how much more I still have to learn from reading!

Also, getting published is extremely difficult. Many classics were frequently rejected by publishers.

For a tangential story, Harry Mathews, a writer I'm currently a bit obsessed with, had been published at the time, had a following, was respected, and was the only American in a prestigious writing group, OuLiPo, at the time he finished possibly his magnum opus, "The Sinking of the Odradek Stadium"; it was rejected 25 times. It was only able to be published because his girlfriend/lover at the time worked at a literary magazine and published it piecemeal.

Therefore: Getting published is extremely difficult. The internet on-one-hand makes it easier to publish and cheaper to self-publish, but consequently on-the-other-hand makes it far more difficult for a writer to get noticed.

Also, experiment with writing; learn from it. I got stuck up on writing out this idea I had and I could never get it write and would constantly restart and edit and it really got nowhere. BUT, I learned a lot and improved/honed my styles and developed techniques. Recently I've put that idea on the back-burner and started fleshing out other ideas, and it's been liberating. Don't get stuck up on one idea if it isn't going anywhere.

If you enjoy writing--continue to do; my advice.

Other ideas: Start a blog; post in the art and writing section here--ask for help when you need it and help others when they're in a similar situation.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

[And I got a migraine/cluster-headache, so that's my excuse for any typos/mistakes--My brain don't work no good when it hurts!]

Good luck!

--David

Start a blog? how? where? do you mean here? I haven't got it to work yet.

I posted a sample of a story I made... it was meant to help me learn from the opinions of others.... and give them another fun thing to read... i do believe someone else posted a story in the art/writing section. so I thought I'd try it to.
